The suffering of the people of Hasaka governorate is exacerbated in terms of securing bread in the areas where the (Qasd) militia associated with the American occupation forces, which forcibly seized public mills and most of the private bakeries and bakeries, and controlled their contents, which led to an imbalance in the availability of daily bread for citizens.

Citizens' complaints are increasing due to the lack of bread material and their need to buy tourist bread, which has burdened them and added financial burdens to them in light of the current living conditions, amid claims and demands for the return of mills and bakeries to government agencies to re-secure the bread.

Ahmed, a worker and head of a family of five, told the SANA reporter ... that the bakery of the Gweran neighborhood in which he lives, its production decreased dramatically after the militias took over it, which reduced the production quantities by half in addition to reducing the weight of the bundle by reducing the size of the loaf.

Cheb Khaled, a resident of Al-Nashwa neighborhood, pointed out that most of the private bakeries were closed as a result of not supplying them with flour after the militias took over the mills, which caused a great shortage of bread and created a black market in which a bundle of bread is sold for a thousand Syrian pounds, or the people are forced to buy tourist bread, which became available. An additional financial concern in light of the high prices and the current living conditions.

Ms. Noha, a resident of Khasman neighborhood, asked about the reasons for the militia’s takeover of the bread production establishments that were available and offered to the citizen at a subsidized price. She believes that this falls within the framework of depriving the people of the simplest necessities of life, calling for the need to return all service facilities, including bakeries and mills, to the state and not to interfere in their work. The fact that these militias are their last concern is to provide services to citizens.

As for Hajj Fadel, the sixty-year-old man, he explains that he has to travel great distances to reach the first bakery of Al-Hasakah of the bakery branch, after the decline in the production of the bakery of the Salhiya neighborhood that he inhabits and the closure of most of the bakeries of the neighborhood.

For his part, a member of the Executive Office of the Internal Trade Sector, Sattam Al-Huwaidi, stated that the cause of the suffering of the people is the result of the (SDF) militia seizing the institutions that supervise the production of bread, starting from the mills and public bakeries to the private bakeries that were closed as a result of not supplying them with flour. Providing the material and depriving the people of the simplest necessities of life.

Al-Huwaidi pointed out that the three bakeries (Al-Hasakah I, Al-Baath and Hamo) of the bakery branch that are still operating in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli secure bread material for the people in their areas of presence despite the pressure caused by the influx of citizens in the areas where militias are present.
