Alberto Fernández and Luis Inacio Lula da Silva spoke at length on Monday afternoon after the ruling of a judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil that annulled the processes for corruption cases they thought against the former president and leader of the Workers' Party of the neighboring country.

The President and Lula

are friends

.

In the phone call, the Argentine told the Brazilian qu

"wanted dearly and admired him."

Also that he had never doubted his innocence.

As

able to reconstruct

with the environment closest to the Argentine president, Lula da Silva thanked him for the defense he always made of himself, at the political and judicial level.

"Never forget that you always have a friend in me," he said and in the most characteristic of his tones the veteran PT leader told Fernández that

his name was "engraved in his heart

.

"

Earlier, when the ruling was known, the President tweeted "I am glad that @LulaOficial has been rehabilitated in all his political rights. The sentences against him that were handed down with the sole purpose of persecuting him and eliminating him from the political career were annulled."

I celebrate that @LulaOficial has been rehabilitated in all his political rights.

Lula was now entitled to return to politics, also to be a candidate again for president of Brazil in 2022. It is unknown if in the dialogue on Monday afternoon they spoke about it.

However, in a public conversation in which both participated virtually in the middle of last year, Alberto F. said that another would be Brazil if Lula governed.

Alberto Fernández visited Lula in the Curitiba prison as a candidate for the presidency in 2019. And he headed the "Free Lula" campaign.

That friendship even brought him the first problems with Jair Bolsonaro that still persist, despite the fact that the current president of Brazil - and Lula's political enemy -

promised his presence in Buenos Aires for the extraordinary Mercosur summit that will be held next Friday. March 26

to commemorate 30 years of the block.

Alberto Fernández as a candidate for president in 2019 during a visit to Lula, when he was imprisoned in Curitiba.

At the time Bolsonaro did not come to the inauguration of Fernández, and always accused him of being a "leftist" government that veered towards the "Venezuelanization" of the country.

To such an extent that Fernández-Da Silva bond has been jealous that he recently tweeted again against Argentina and its government when he saw that Fernández participated with Lula in a virtual way in the celebrations for the 41 years of the PT.

For the Argentine president Lula has been a victim of the so-called Lawfare, the alleged judicial persecution by politics, in which he also considers that Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, the Ecuadorian Rafael Correa and Evo Morales are, in train of being amnestied by the government of Luis Arce.
