The American billionaire and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has definitively turned the page on a divorce that caused rivers of ink to flow - that of Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and one of the richest men in the world - and has married a science professor at the institute of Seattle where their children go.

Together with Dan Jewett, her new spouse, the philanthropist hopes to allocate most of her fortune, which

recently estimated at 53,000 million dollars (about 44,450 million euros), to projects and social causes.

Her husband put those plans on record in a letter posted on the website of the non-profit organization The Giving Pledge, which brings together the largest fortunes in the country, from Bill Gates to Warren Buffet to Mark Zuckerberg, and that forces its members to donate most of their assets.

“I am grateful for the exceptional privilege it will be for me to contribute to donations that do so much good when shared,” wrote Jewett as a partner in his wife's humanitarian efforts.

She has already changed her profile on her Amazon page: "She lives in Seattle with her four children and her husband, Dan."

What in other circumstances would not be more than a private, personal matter, becomes by the fortune of Scott - the third richest woman in the world - in news with an impact similar to that of the Bezos divorce process.

Excessive publicity, in both cases, for a woman who has always tried to keep her private life out of the public eye, except when advertising her social contributions.

Last year, through two posts on the

, Scott announced that he had earmarked $ 6 billion in various grants and donations.

Its beneficiaries include the YMCA, the veteran youth advocacy and advocacy association;

YWCA, for women and girls;

black food banks, colleges and universities;

LGTBIQ organizations and groups that fight against climate change, against social inequality and racial injustice.

Last year Scott gave two humanitarian organizations specialized in emergencies, of which 4,000 million were used solely to combat the pandemic and alleviate its effects, which represents almost three-quarters of the donations against the convid-19 made by the richest Americans.

Scott has seen his wealth increase due to the appreciation of the company's shares during covid-19.

Soctt was married to Bezos for 25 years and after her divorce, in 2019, she obtained 4% of Amazon shares.

In a statement, the tycoon has praised his ex's new husband: "Dan is a great guy, and I'm happy for both of them," he said, quoted by

.

Jewett himself, who teaches classes at an exclusive center that counts Bill Gates among his former students, corroborated how lucky he feels on The Giving Pledge website: “I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know, and I join her in the commitment to allocate her enormous wealth to help others ”.
