CaixaBank absorbs its digital subsidiary to reinforce its online and physical strategy

2021-03-08T14:07:36.826Z

The operation involves the transfer of more than 100 employees to the parent company, but without altering the workforce, although the transfer occurs in the middle of the merger of the Catalan entity and Bankia

CaixaBank neX, a CaixaBank subsidiary specialized in digital channel management, will be incorporated into the group's parent company in the coming days with the aim of reinforcing the customers' omnichannel strategy (digital + physical).

This change entails the transfer with a change of agreement of the hundred employees who work in this subsidiary, who go from the consulting agreement to that of the old savings banks, but it does not imply any staff adjustment, nor an operation related to the merger of CaixaBank with Bankia, as explained in the group.

Originally, the subsidiary was established more than 20 years ago to build the digital proposal of the financial institution.

In this way, CaixaBank was a pioneer in making independent and developing financial services in digital environments with a team of specialists in user experience and digital business management, profiles that until then were unusual in banks, except for the largest.

It is a specialized team that, generally, in addition to their background in banking and finance, have worked in sectors such as “big tech”, “e-commerce”, the “retail” sector and specialized consulting in digitization.

There are around 15% international professionals and there are a majority of women (57%).

"CaixaBank neX has been a very prominent part in the development of projects for the entity that have been relevant milestones in the sector, such as the launch of the first mobile banking" apps "for Android, the creation of the first" store "of applications. financial institutions in the world or the launch of the first mobile payment system in Spain ”, explains the entity.

CaixaBank is currently one of the best positioned banks in technology and digitization.

CaixaBank is currently the financial institution with the most digital clients in Spain, with more than 7 million and one of the highest market shares in the world in its market, according to Comscore data.

The corporate integration of its parent company and CaixaBank neX is a consequence of the current physical channel plus digital channel work approach, which is increasingly common in projects carried out.

Santander has also just carried out a similar process with Openbank and other group companies.

Now digital customers already exceed 50% in almost all large banking institutions, and online sales have also skyrocketed, especially with the pandemic, which is no longer separating entities in the management of online and branch customers.
