During the Great Depression of the aviation industry under the epidemic, Cathay Pacific layoffs in October last year and Dragonair ceased operations. The outside world is concerned about how Dragonair's traffic rights are allocated.
According to a notice issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in recent months, 15 airlines originally operated by Dragonair have been granted operating licenses to Cathay Pacific, including Wuhan, Guangzhou, and Nanjing.
Cathay Pacific replied that it intends to seek regulatory approval to allow Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Express to operate most of Dragonair's routes.

Before the shutdown, Dragonair's services covered 22 inland cities, and 46 routes were returned to the government when the operation was suspended.
Cathay Pacific has previously stated that it intends to bid for Dragonair’s original routes, but Cathay Pacific has re-operated flights to Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Hanoi in Vietnam, etc. These routes were originally operated by Dragonair.
According to a notice issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China at the end of January, Cathay Pacific has been approved to operate 15 routes originally operated by Dragonair. The scheduled sailing date is December 27, 2020. There is no limit to the number of weekly flights.
The 15 routes are as follows:
Hong Kong-Fuzhou
Hong Kong-Qingdao
Hong Kong-Xiamen
Hong Kong-Guangzhou
Hong Kong-Chengdu
Hong Kong-Zhengzhou
Hong Kong-Hangzhou
Hong Kong-Nanjing

Cathay Pacific replied that the group intends to seek regulatory approval for Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Express to operate most of Dragonair's routes, and is committed to strengthening the network and consolidating Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub.
Cathay Pacific continued to point out that the distribution of traffic rights in Hong Kong is handled by the SAR government as a whole, and it needs to go through normal procedures to reapply and finally be approved by the government.
In addition to Cathay Pacific, the outside world is also concerned about whether Dragonair's routes will be undertaken by Greater Bay Area Airlines.
The airline was established by Huang Chubiao, a wealthy businessman known as "Shenzhen Li Ka-shing." It previously applied to the Air Transport Licensing Bureau for 104 routes, including 48 inland city destinations, and is applying for an air operator license.
