Initially, around 50 people gathered in the afternoon for a so-called flash mob.

According to the police, not everyone wore a mask during the organized dance, and many spectators were also attracted.

The event was then ended.

In addition, many people were on the sports fields and did not adhere to the Corona regulations.

The city police have issued a ban on entering the places.

In the evening, more and more people poured into the harbor park, listened to music and drank alcohol.

There are no indications that it was an organized event.

Corona in Germany: Daimler wants to take vaccination into its own hands

Update from March 7, 8:48 a.m.:

Daimler wants its employees to be vaccinated against corona by company doctors.

"Our company doctors are prepared and we would like to support the vaccination campaign," said CEO Ola Källenius of

Bild am Sonntag

.

"As soon as it is allowed for the company to be vaccinated and it is the turn of the employees, we can get started and offer all our employees a vaccination in the factory." The Stuttgart company is in close coordination with the health authorities.

Meanwhile, the district of Viersen (North Rhine-Westphalia) is starting a special corona vaccination day for employees of daycare centers and schools this Sunday.

AstraZeneca vaccination doses are available for the district at short notice, reports the WDR.

The vaccination doses were therefore made available by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

A week earlier, Krefeld had already taken vaccination into its own hands with a similar campaign.

The website of the city of Viersen and the district are currently not available (as of March 7, 8:48 a.m.).

According to the RKI, the 7-day Inzindez is 52.2 in the Viersen district and 65.1 in all of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Update from March 7, 8:27 a.m

.: In Thuringia, the 7-day incidence is 131.9.

The federal state is the only one in Germany that continues to exceed the 100 limit.

Corona in Germany - RKI reports more new infections again

Update from March 7, 7:03 a.m.:

The health authorities in Germany reported 8,103 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day.

In addition, 96 new deaths were recorded.

The data reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from 3.11 a.m., subsequent changes or additions to the RKI are possible.

On Sunday, the number of cases reported is usually lower, among other things because fewer tests are carried out on the weekend.

Exactly one week ago there were 7,890 new infections within one day and 157 new deaths.

According to the RKI, the number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (seven-day incidence) was 66.1 nationwide on Sunday morning - and thus slightly higher than the previous day (65.6).

The number of new infections in Germany fell significantly for weeks in January and February.

However, it has recently stagnated, which could also be due to the spread of more contagious variants.

Coronavirus in Germany: Over 2,500,000 million detected infections since the beginning of the pandemic

The RKI has counted 2,500,182 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not recognized.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at around 2,304,300.

The total number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 71,900.

According to the RKI situation report on Saturday, the nationwide seven-day R-value was 1.06 (previous day 1.04).

This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 106 more people.

The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.

If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;

if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

Corona in Germany: outbreak in kindergarten, including cases with mutation - 200 people in quarantine

Update from March 6, 9:05 p.m.:

After a corona outbreak in a kindergarten in Geislingen an der Steige in Baden-Württemberg, around 200 people have to be quarantined.

The Göppingen district office announced on Saturday that the coronavirus had been detected in a total of nine children and educators from several groups in the kindergarten.

In at least two cases, it is said to be the more contagious Corona variant B.1.1.7, which was initially discovered in Great Britain.

In addition, the coronavirus has already been discovered in at least five cases in the family environment of individual kindergarten children or employees, sometimes in mutated form.

According to the district office, the health department then ordered a quarantine for all children and adults who tested positive, their contact persons and other household members.

In the city of Geislingen alone, at least 200 quarantines are necessary in this context.

Corona in Germany: Hundreds of workers on cruise ship in quarantine

Update from March 6th, 6.15pm:

Hundreds of workers are stuck on the newly built cruise ship "Odyssey of the Seas" because of two corona cases.

You are not allowed to leave the ship, which is moored in Bremerhaven, by order of the port medical service, as a spokesman for the Meyer shipyard announced on Saturday.

According to Meyer-Werft, the cases were known on Wednesday and confirmed with PCR tests on Thursday.

The infected were therefore separated.

According to the spokesman, it was not known whether they were brought off board in the meantime.

There are no other cases so far.

The team will be tested daily and the next steps will be discussed with the authorities, it said.

Corona in Germany: Dramatic death rates in old people's and nursing homes

Update from March 6th, 3 p.m.:

At least 29,000 residents of old people's and nursing homes who were sick with Covid-19 have died since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

That comes from a survey of the health and social ministries of the federal states by the

FAZ

.

The number could be even higher, however, as there may be gaps in national statistics.

A total of around 71,000 people in Germany died as a result of Covid-19, as reported by the RKI.

The extent of the coronavirus is particularly evident in the proportion statistics of fatalities, some of which are collected by the federal states.

Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt form the lower end of the statistics.

There, the corona deaths in the homes make up 25 and 29 percent respectively.

At the other end of the statistics are Bavaria and Hamburg, where 54 and 60 percent, respectively, of people who died as a result of Covid-19 came from homes.

Coronavirus in Germany: Solzialverband warns of social division due to costs for rapid tests

Update from March 6th, 10:56 am

: "In

addition

to the costs for masks or disinfectants, there are now the costs for the tests": The social

association VdK Germany

warns of deeper social divisions and calls for more free corona tests.

Politicians are currently planning a free quick test per citizen per week.

That is not enough, "especially if the attendance of events is made dependent on a negative test result," said VdK President Verena Bentele now to the

Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung

(NOZ)

.

She referred to the already difficult situation of recipients of basic income support.

One free Corona rapid test per week: "That divides society even further"

“That divides society further: into those who can afford a test every day, and those who will have to ask themselves in the future whether they will visit their grandparents or go to the zoo with the children.” Bentele demanded that the federal government monthly basic security amount is increased by 100 euros.

So far, it is only planned to cover additional costs with a one-time corona surcharge of 150 euros.

Werner Hesse, managing director of the

Paritätischer Gesamtverband

, also demanded

100 euros additional payments

in the

NOZ

for the period of the pandemic.

In any case, recipients of basic income support are increasingly excluded: "If they cannot be tested regularly or cannot afford FFP2 masks, many will have to stay at home even more and can participate even less in social life than is already the case."

Corona in Germany: RKI reports more than 9500 new infections and an increasing incidence

Update from March 6, 7.42 a.m.:

According to the RKI, the 7-day incidence in Germany has risen to 65.6 (previous day: 65.4).

In addition, the institute announced on Saturday morning that within one day, 9557 new corona infections and 300 other deaths in connection with an infection were registered nationwide.

Update from March 5, 8:33 p.m

.: The number of reproductions in Germany has risen again above the critical value of 1.

As the Robert Koch Institute announced in its management report on Friday, the seven-day average R value is 1.04.

The day before it was 0.99.

If the number of reproductions is constantly below 1, the infection rate subsides.

Corona in Germany: Lauterbach - "Prerequisites for opening steps are never met"

Update from March 5, 4:36 p.m

.: Karl Lauterbach doubts that there will be further easing in Germany.

"The opening steps that are in the paper are mostly never implemented because the prerequisites for this - either stable or even falling numbers of cases - are never achieved," said the SPD health expert to the broadcaster n-tv.

In his opinion, the antigen tests are too late * to control the loosening from the start of the openings.

Lauterbach does not want to speculate about easing at Easter in early April.

“But I don't think that we will see falling case numbers or even stable case numbers in the next four weeks.” Businesses and schools could be made safer if antigen rapid tests were available in sufficient numbers.

This could also reduce the R-value.

"That would really slow down the third wave," said the SPD politician.

Corona in Germany: State now lowers vaccination age - "Second group fully open"

Update from March 5, 3:54 p.m

.: Thuringia is now

vaccinating

people aged 70 and over.

The ministry announced on Friday that police and law enforcement officers who are exposed to a high risk of infection during demonstrations, as well as soldiers who are deployed abroad, can now receive a vaccination.

With the vaccination capacities that are now available, the second prioritization group can be fully opened, the ministry said.

According to the information, the group of 70 to 80 year olds in Thuringia includes around 230,000 people.

Corona in Germany - incidence value in Thuringia further increased

In Thuringia, the 7-day incidence is currently 128.9 (previous day 127.9), according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Thuringia is the only federal state that currently exceeds the 100 threshold for easing.

Update from March 5, 2:49 p.m

.: Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called for a joint commemoration for the victims of the corona pandemic.

“That is and will remain a harrowing, disturbing dimension,” said Steinmeier in a conversation with bereaved at Bellevue Palace in Berlin.

On April 18, a memorial ceremony with the state leadership and bereaved families is to take place in Berlin.

Many of the victims died lonely.

Update from March 5, 1:15 p.m.:

The criticism of the sluggish vaccinations against the corona virus in Germany is unchecked.

A university professor is now stepping up - and a doctor is warning of more deaths due to the corona lockdown *.

“Emergency brake” - the number of regions with a 7-day incidence over 100 is increasing

Update from March 5, 10.13 a.m

.: The "emergency brake" must pull regions with an incidence of over 100.

That was decided at the Corona summit last Wednesday.

Any easing would have to be reversed.

According to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 63 regions currently exceed the 100 mark (previous day: 60).

The RKI shows 412 regions on its Covid-19 dashboard - including counties and urban districts.

Above all, numerous districts in Bavaria on the border with the Czech Republic and Austria can only dream of easing the lockdown.

According to the latest RKI data, the corona hotspot is the city of Hof (Bavaria) - the 7-day incidence here is 342.6.

Corona in Germany - British Corona mutation B.1.1.7 continues to prevail

Update from March 5, 9.11 a.m

.: The share of the British corona mutation is currently almost 40 percent, RKI boss Lothar Wieler announced at the press conference.

In his opinion, this is worrying.

The corona variant is more contagious and dangerous.

He sees a trend reversal in the corona pandemic in the developments.

Wieler emphasizes that all vaccines protect against the corona mutations.

Current data would show that all vaccines protected against severe courses of Covid-19.

"Vaccines and everyone who can be vaccinated point the way out of the pandemic," said RKI boss Wieler.

Update from March 5, 8:56 a.m.:

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 10,580 new corona infections and 264 deaths on Friday morning.

Jens Spahn, RKI boss Lothar Wieler and NRW health minister Karl Laumann give a press conference in Berlin on the current corona situation.

It's about rapid tests and vaccinations.

Corona in Germany - situation in the intensive care units

Update from March 5, 7:25 a.m.:

The numbers in the corona pandemic had finally stabilized in February, even a decline in officially registered new infections was recorded.

However, after many experts have already forecast a third wave, the RKI once again registered an increase in numbers compared to the previous week on Friday (see update from 6.30 a.m.), the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi) also published depressing numbers.

Because despite the downward trend in the number of Covid 19 patients, the number of free beds in intensive care units in Germany has remained roughly constant since the beginning of the year.

Operations that had been postponed are currently being

carried out

again

or are even being increasingly carried out, a spokeswoman for the Divi told the German press agency.

"Accordingly, after major heart surgery or severe tumor resections, larger numbers of patients are currently back in intensive care units."

In any case, the treatment of the large number of Covid 19 patients at the end of December and beginning of January was only possible because other patients were earlier had been moved to other wards than usual.

The bed occupancy rate in the intensive care units is "still very stable," said the spokeswoman.

Around 3700 free intensive care beds are shown in the Divi intensive care register (as of Thursday).

Around 2,800 Covid-19 cases are still being treated.

That is less than half as much as at the beginning of the year, but only slightly less than during the peak of the first wave in spring 2020.

Corona in Germany: RKI publishes current infection numbers and another increase in numbers

Update from March 5, 6:30 a.m.:

Is Germany likely to face a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic soon?

After the federal and state governments announced some opening measures on Wednesday, many experts will be observing the daily published infection numbers even more critically than before.

Many of them expect a drastic increase in the number of infections soon.

For Friday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported again, as in the past few days, higher numbers than a week ago.

The health authorities in Germany reported 10,580 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

In addition, 264 additional deaths were recorded within 24 hours.

That comes from the numbers of the RKI from Friday.

Exactly one week ago, the RKI recorded 9,997 new infections and 394 new deaths within one day.

The seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days, was 65.4 nationwide on Friday morning - and thus slightly higher than the previous day (64.7).

According to the RKI management report on Thursday, the nationwide seven-day R-value was 0.99 (previous day 0.93).

This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 99 more people.

The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.

If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;

if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

Corona in Germany: RKI numbers from Thursday

Update from March 4, 9.45 p.m.:

According to the RKI situation report on Thursday, the seven-day R value in Germany was 0.99 (previous day 0.93).

This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 99 more people.

The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.

If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection rate levels off;

if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

First report from March 4th:

Rheinstetten - Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic *, meat and slaughterhouses have developed into a major source of infection.

There have been repeated outbreaks in the relevant companies, such as the Tönnies factories in the Gütersloh district.

Now the list is one case longer.

Corona in Germany: Virus outbreak in Edeka meat plant - 69 people infected

Dozens of employees have been infected with the corona virus in an Edeka Südwest meat factory in Rheinstetten.

A spokesman for the Karlsruhe district office reported on Thursday of 69 people who tested positive and 140 contact persons who had to remain in quarantine.

Around 1200 employees work in the company.

Because the infection process is not diffuse and the contacts can be easily tracked, the outbreak initially has no consequences such as any exit restrictions.

A spokesman for Edeka Südwest said: "We have to assume that the source of the infection is in the private area."

Corona in Germany: There is also a case at Edeka-Fleischwerk - mutation is spreading

Overall, one case can be traced back to the British virus mutation B.1.1.7 *, which can generally be regarded as positive.

The Robert Koch Institute * reported on Wednesday (March 3) that 46 percent of positive corona tests * across Germany are now due to the British variant.

The mutation is thus spreading further and further in this country.

A good month ago, the RKI put their share at just six percent, two weeks ago it was 22 percent.

According to initial scientific findings, the new variant is not more deadly but far more contagious.

Corona in Germany: "Without mutations, our incidences would only be about half as high"

If it didn't exist, Germany would have already achieved its incidence target of 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

Politicians have set this value for extensive easing.

According to the current RKI situation report from Thursday (March 4), the Federal Republic has an incidence of 65.

The statistician Christian Hesse from the University of Stuttgart explains to

bild.de

:

“Without this advance (of

the mutations

) our incidences would actually only be about half as high.

The downward trend that we had since mid-January first bottomed out in the second half of February and has now turned into an upward trend. "

Corona in Germany: Foster child Thuringia - incidence of 128

The virus is currently most rampant in Thuringia (incidence of 128), the only federal state with a three-digit incidence.

Saxony-Anhalt (85) and Bremen (76) also have comparatively high incidence values.

The situation is most relaxed in Rhineland-Palatinate (49) and Schleswig-Holstein (49), which are the only federal states below the 50s incidence.

Meanwhile, it is interesting that the incidence value continues to decline in the elderly population.

It is now 57 in the population group over 80 and only 45 in the 60-79 year-olds. According to the current infection rate, 117,300 people are currently actively infected with the corona virus, and Germany has had around 2.7 million corona cases since the outbreak of the pandemic .
