The corona virus struck in the Warngau town hall: It caught Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (57) and two employees.

The town hall chief became infected, although he had already received a first vaccination.

Warngau

- The incidence values in the Miesbach district are not particularly high, but the corona virus is spreading further and can apparently also outsmart hygiene concepts.

This is what happened in the Warngau town hall.

As Christine Fürst from the municipal administration announced on Monday (March 8) on request, Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) and two employees of the building authority and the residents' registration office tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen at the end of last week.

All three are in quarantine, but do not suffer from severe symptoms, as Fürst explained.

The remaining seven town hall employees underwent a PCR test on Friday (March 5th).

“None of them were diagnosed,” said Prince.

Regular rapid tests should keep the development under control.

"We are in constant contact with the health department," says Fürst.

The meeting of the local council was postponed by two weeks

The offices of the municipal administration can still be reached by phone or email, emphasizes Fürst, "we ask you to refrain from visiting the town hall at the moment".

The meeting of the local council, scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed to March 23.

The three who tested positive are expected to remain in quarantine at home until March 19.

“I have also largely isolated myself in the family,” Thurnhuber reports on request.

Slight cold symptoms became noticeable, plus some tiredness, body aches and bad taste.

"The virus is evidently progressing quickly"

“I don't know where I got infected,” assures the town hall chief.

Appointments in the town hall were always held with distance rules and a hygiene concept.

"The virus appears to be moving on quickly," warns Thurnhuber.

Even a first vaccination couldn't protect him.

On February 23, the mayor had received an AstraZeneca injection: "I was offered the vaccination appointment at short notice because many had refused the Astra vaccine."

Thurnhuber sustained life-threatening injuries during a bull attack on his organic farm in the summer of 2019, was in a coma for many weeks, but fought his way back shortly before the 2020 local elections and was promptly re-elected.
