Same causes, same effects!
Like last week, the meteorological conditions (a temperature inversion associated with a moderate wind) will lead to a new peak in fine particle pollution this Tuesday throughout Ile-de-France.
Airparif, the air quality monitoring body in the agglomeration, foresees a possible exceeding of the “information threshold” (set at 50 micrograms per M3) for 24 hours.
This overrun requires the implementation of preventive measures for automobile traffic, which is one of the main contributors to particle pollution.
The Paris Police Prefecture therefore recommends road users to postpone their trips if possible, to use public transport ... or to ease off if they cannot leave their car in the garage.
Throughout Tuesday, maximum speeds are lowered to 110 km / H on sections normally limited to 130, 90 km / H on expressways normally limited to 110 and 70 km / H on national roads.
Drivers of 3.5 tonnes heavy goods vehicles are also invited to bypass the heart of the Parisian conurbation by the Francilienne or the A86.
Unlike last week's pollution episode, fine particle levels are expected to remain well below the "alert threshold".
It will therefore not require the reactivation of differentiated traffic (prohibiting the circulation of the most polluting vehicles) which was put in place last Wednesday.
The town hall of Paris has however announced free residential parking for the whole day.
According to Airparif forecasts, this fine particle pollution - relatively frequent at the end of winter - should not continue beyond Tuesday.
