Police today (Monday) arrested a resident of Lod in Givat Shmuel, after he hit a vehicle on the road and threw stones at a police officer during a foot chase until his arrest.

The policeman noticed the driver committing a traffic offense, and when he ordered him to stop at the side of the road, the suspect fled while endangering the other passengers on the road.

During his escape, he hit a number of vehicles until he was arrested.

According to the suspect, he drove with his license invalid, got out of the vehicle, threw stones at the policeman and civilians who were there, and to prevent harm to innocents, the policeman was forced to first shoot in the air, but after continuing to endanger the lives of people nearby, he fired at his lower body.

The detainee was taken to Sheba Hospital after being moderately injured in the shooting.
