Vaccination against the Covid-19 pandemic is being stepped up in Africa, according to the UN, which announced deliveries to nine countries on this continent on Monday.
“More doses of vaccines against Covid-19, via the UN Covax mechanism, have been delivered to nine African countries,” said
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric.
These are
"Mozambique, Togo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Liberia, Djibouti, Sao Tome and Principe, Uganda and Mali,"
he said.

On Monday, Mozambique and Togo received nearly half a million doses.
The first phase of vaccination is starting for health workers and other people at risk for these countries, the spokesperson also said.
On Sunday, the Covax mechanism made it possible
“to deliver 2.2 million doses to Ethiopia, with vaccinations due to start in the coming days.
On Friday, Malawi, Liberia, Sao Tome and Principe and Mali received vaccines, ”
he said.
“Djibouti will start vaccinations on March 11. And in Uganda, which has received more than 850,000 doses of vaccines via the Covax mechanism, they will begin in stages, ”
said Stéphane Dujarric.
