The director of the Election Commission, Adv. Orly Adas, said today (Monday) that the possibility of opening polling stations at Ben-Gurion Airport on Election Day is being examined.

At a zoom press conference held by Adas ahead of the election, she noted that the budget increase for the elections to the 24th Knesset compared to the 23rd Knesset is NIS 282.6 million.

This is due to the many expenses required due to the corona virus and the intention to make every effort to enable patients and isolates to participate in the elections.

Adas said that they intend to run polling stations inside buses on Election Day.

The Election Commission has qualified 50 buses that will serve as polling places for everything with polling committee members.

These buses will be distributed among the various districts across the country to ease congestion and avoid long queues.

In addition, within 48 hours before the election, 500 tent complexes will be set up where 80 polling stations will be set up for the sick and isolated.

In addition, corona patients hospitalized will be given the opportunity to vote in elections and ballot committee members will be at each of the institutions across the country.

Only corona patients who can get out of bed can vote.

Adas said that despite the large number of voters in double envelopes, every effort is being made to complete the vote count by Friday, March 26, the eve of Passover.

At the Finance Committee meeting that approved the election budget, Advocate Adas said that “if we are usually talking about an election budget that has a lot of unknown elements in the first place and many evolving parameters, this time the uncertainty component has become very significant in budget preparation.

"Only with regard to the special polling stations and the changes to the polling stations, there is an additional NIS 75 million, and transporting Corona patients to the polling stations will cost about NIS 20 million."
