"On March 14, 2020, they raped me in Acapulco."

Thus begins the video with which the Mexican actress Daniela Berriel denounces Gonzalo Peña, a Spanish actor living in Mexico, and Eduardo Ojeda, the owner of the house where the crime was allegedly committed.

Until recently, they were both at large and their case stalled.

Posting the video on social media has been his "last resort," he says.

A year after the presentation of the complaint and after the scandal that the publication has caused, the Guerrero State Prosecutor's Office reported on Sunday the arrest of the alleged rapist and assured that it will continue investigating possible accomplices.

This case raises the pressure on this institution, which is highly criticized for its inaction in the investigation of the complaints against Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio.

Just a week after the 2020 Women's Day celebration, Berriel was invited on a trip to Acapulco with Peña, with whom she had dated on a couple of occasions, and a group of the actor's friends, including the owner of the home, Eduardo Ojeda.

The guests spent the day quietly in the pool and at night they sat down to dinner.

Hours passed and in the end only Berriel and the other two men, Peña and Ojeda, remained.

“The talk turned sexual and they started talking about threesomes.

What if I had already done a threesome and they told me why not, "says the visibly excited actress in the video posted on her Instagram account.

She began to feel uncomfortable and decided to go to sleep in a room she shared with Peña.

“Not two minutes passed and I already had Eduardo and Gonzalo touching me.

They never asked me.

I got up and lay down on the couch.

Gonzalo stayed in bed.

Eduardo came and touched my leg and told me not to be tight ”.

After refusing him eight times, Eduardo left the room, but Berriel's nightmare did not end.

"I fell asleep.

I woke up because they were already penetrating me.

Eduardo was raping me.

And when I realized it was him I was

shocked

.

I took it off and left.

He approached me, started pulling me and saying that he hadn't finished yet, that she was rude.

And he started riding me, hitting me and yelling at Gonzalo why he had invited me, to which Gonzalo stood up very angry and said: 'Bastard, why are you pushing yourself if you just fucked her very rich?'

There I realized that I was in front of two pigs and I was very afraid ”.

As soon as the two men left her alone the next morning, Berriel packed her bags and took a taxi to a friend's house.

He filed the complaint that same day in Acapulco.

He took the exams, extended his stay in the city, and had to tell what had happened several times.

"I did everything a victim has to do," he says.

The Prosecutor's Office, however, asked him for "patience" because the courts were about to close due to the coronavirus crisis.

“At first I had no plans to make this video because I trusted the authorities.

I make this video because I'm fed up, I'm tired and I'm scared, ”she explains.

"It's been a year and (...) Gonzalo still sends me messages."

Screenshots appear in the recording in which Peña asks him to forgive him and tries to disassociate himself from the rape: "You're never going to talk to me, don't be like that", "I don't know what I did."

The authorities have needed the scandal to break out to act.

The Guerrero and Mexico City Prosecutors reported on Sunday the arrest in the Mexican capital of the alleged rapist, whom they identify as Eduardo "O".

They hope to transfer him to Acapulco to make him available to the judge, according to the first of the two institutions on Twitter.

Peña is still at liberty, but the State Prosecutor's Office also reported that "derived from the arrest, [they] are investigating the participation of more people in this crime of rape, with the firm commitment to bring all those likely responsible before the corresponding judicial authorities." .

For now, Televisa has announced this Monday that it was suspending a production with the Spanish actor "in order to fully understand what happened."

Peña appears in a series that had just premiered at the end of February and, before that, had participated in several soap operas.

The Guerrero Prosecutor's Office is in the spotlight for its ineffectiveness in resolving other cases of sexist violence.

In addition to Berriel's complaint, the institution is in charge of investigating two accusations of rape against Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio, who aspires to be the candidate for governor of Guerrero for Morena, the party of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The Prosecutor's Office claims to be collecting more data, although former prosecutor Xavier Olea has affirmed that in 2018 the investigation was already advanced enough to order the arrest of Salgado Macedonio.

Governor Héctor Astudillo, of the PRI, ordered to put it in a drawer, says Olea.

In Mexico, impunity in cases of femicides reaches 90% and 99.7% of episodes of sexist violence are not even reported, according to data from the National Survey of Urban Public Safety for 2019.

At this moment, the feminist movement occupies the center of current Mexican politics, buoyed by a wave of complaints of rape and sexual abuse against political and cultural personalities.

The communicator and philanthropist Andrés Roemer has been accused by 61 women, according to the organization Periodistas Unidas.

Four of them have been for alleged rapes.

And, in the

Salgado Macedonio case

, the continued support that President López Obrador has given to the senator has caused the biggest rupture to date in the president's party, with several Morena militants and deputies demanding the withdrawal of his candidacy.

"A rapist will not be a governor" has become one of the slogans of the feminist demonstrations this Monday.
