Upgrading the tourism connotation profession and restoring the shortage of its cadres and introducing the local culture and product is a goal that the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training is working on during the current period by developing the skills of those wishing to license the profession of tourism connotation and providing this vital sector with qualified and trained expertise.
Director of the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training, Musallam Al-Naem, explained in a statement to SANA's delegate that the Ministry of Tourism had developed a plan to provide job opportunities and restore the shortage in the profession of tourist guides, especially after many of them leaked out due to the war, stressing the importance of the guide’s role in promoting the tourism sector, especially at this stage, the stage of Syria’s victory.
Al-Naem added that the training of cadres takes place through courses in the tourism, archaeological and economic fields, and scientific tours to the tourist and archaeological areas, including Palmyra, Al-Hosn Castle, Ugarit, Salah al-Din, Maaloula and Damascus, with the aim of having the guide possessing accurate and integrated information to properly convey it to visitors.
Sally Zadeh, a student at the Faculty of Law, was prompted by her desire to work as a tourist guide to join one of the Commission’s courses. She showed that Syria is rich in archaeological and tourist sites and needs to be known internally and externally, which she aspires to be able to convey the true image of her country, the cradle of civilization and the heavenly religions.
While Ayman Al-Lahham, a graduate of the Faculty of Commerce, saw that the next stage requires the presence of people who possess complete information about the civilization of their country. .
