In the era of the highest peak, Tai Po used to set up three theaters side by side in the district. However, after the closure in 2001, there were no more theaters in the district, and the public needed to go to the neighboring district to watch movies.

UA Cinemas (UA Cinemas) rented the multi-storey parking lot in Tai Po Super City last year. The raw materials opened this year. It is also the first time that Tai Po has a cinema in two decades.

But today (8th), UA Cinemas announced the closure of all lines, and the new theater in Tai Po will also have the opportunity to pass down, disappointing many people in Tai Po.

District Councillor Kwan Wing-ye is also worried about the whereabouts of the new theater in Tai Po, but expects that the developer will re-tender and find other theaters to take over.

UA Cinemas announced this morning (8th) that due to the impact of the epidemic, it was overwhelmed by operating pressure and had no choice but to close down. UA Cinemas has started the liquidation process and has issued basic severance pay and additional ex-gratia payments to more than 100 employees in accordance with the Employment Regulations. spare.

The 36-year-old UA Cinema will now bid farewell to the people of Hong Kong.

Last year, UA Cinemas rented a multi-storey parking lot in the Tai Po Super City. The Tai Po New Cinema was originally planned to open before the end of this year. It will be Tai Po's successor to the three cinemas of "Star", "Hung Kai" and "Silver Star" in 2001. After the graduation, many citizens are looking forward to the first theater in the district.

Kwan Wing Yip, a member of the Fu Ming New District in Tai Po, was worried about this. He said that in October last year, Sun Hung Kai (the owner of the Tai Po Super City) had completed the building structure works for the new Tai Po Cinema site, which was expected to be handed over to UA in March this year. Cinemas will be further decorated, such as air-conditioning, movie screens and seats. It is initially estimated that the theater will have 360 seats, divided into 4 houses, each with 50 to 100 seats.

He pointed out that if UA Cinemas is unable to take over the new theater in Tai Po due to the closure of the whole line, the theater will not be opened as scheduled. However, he believes that the owner will then re-tender and find other theaters to take over.

"Because the owners have already rebuilt the purpose of the left place, in a short period of time, I should not rebuild it again. Instead, I have the opportunity to get someone to take over."

He predicts that the new theater in Tai Po may not fail, but the opening time will be delayed by at least one year.

Many theaters opened in Tai Po in the 1960s, including the first-generation Baohua Theater, which was the largest in the New Territories at the time, and the second-generation Baohua, which opened later. It even opened its doors in the 1990s with "one ticket for all day" pornographic theaters. The pattern comes to the end.

However, after the first generation Baohua closed in 1977, the second generation Baohua also went bankrupt in 1990.

In the 1990s, there were three theaters in Tai Po, namely "Xinghui", "Hung Kai" and "Silver Star". They closed one after another in 2001. As a result, people in Tai Po recently had to go to the UA Theater in Sha Tin to see the theater.
