Last night (Monday), the police arrested a boy, a resident of Beit Shemesh, on suspicion of attacking a bus driver in the city with his friends.

Police are continuing to search for more suspects involved in the assault.

The incident occurred after a Superbus driver on Line 14 refused to pick up a passenger with an electric bicycle.

Following this, the passenger cursed at the driver and threatened to hit him, and hung himself with his friends on the bus doors - and the gang also tried to uproot them.

One of them even brought a stick with the intention of beating the driver, while their friend left the bus doors open.

Later, the gang also tried to physically attack the driver, but thanks to the partition installed on the bus - he came out unscathed.

In addition, according to the driver, one of the rioters also tried to take control of the bus, shifting gears while driving, which endangered the safety of the passengers.

In the case file, the suspects are heard cursing the driver and calling him derogatory names such as: "Son of a bitch", "This is an Arab you will learn, raping people", "If you do not let go I will fuck you in the face", "Remember I have a knife in my hand" and more.

The Organization of Bus Drivers from the Histadrut condemned the case, and called for fighting the phenomenon.

"Once again we see how bus drivers have become a scapegoat for outlaws," the organization said.

"The violence will only stop when the bus drivers are recognized as public employees. It is inconceivable that we would return to see such sights on a daily basis."

"The stage where a driver will be killed at the wheel is closer than ever," the organization warned.
