Schlehdorf - Christian Heinrich from Iffeldorfer has been working on his plans for a grain manufacture with a whiskey distillery in Schlehdorf for several years - and will have to continue to do so.

Because the local council does not like its current plans for the Schlehwerk.

Christian Heinrich first publicly presented his plans for a grain factory with a whiskey distillery in the small monastery town in autumn 2016.

But after numerous criticisms, including from the community, who feared that the factory with shop, café, bistro and bakery could endanger the existence of the local business, Heinrich had thrown his original plans overboard.

Now the planned building with brewery and distillery should be realized much smaller and the planned underground car park should be omitted completely.

Heinrich also wanted to readjust the concept and, for example, completely eliminate overnight accommodations for guests.

He wanted to reduce the gastronomic offer.

In the most recent municipal council meeting, the councils now had to decide on the application for a preliminary ruling on this revised plan.

This provides for a three-storey building with a basement and ground floor as well as a first floor, as Heinrich explained on request.

A parking level is planned to the right of the building, but no conventional underground car park.

A total of around 58 parking spaces are to be created.

Criticism of the size of the planned gastronomy

With this new design, the councils were less bothered by the fact that building limits were exceeded.

Rather, they criticized the size of the planned gastronomy.

They see it as a clear competition to local businesses.

Their fears are particularly great with regard to the Schlehdorfer village shop.

They see its continued existence at risk from the planned gastronomy in the industrial park.

Erich Skrajewski criticized, for example, that in the current planning, catering takes up significantly more space than production.

In the original draft plan, it was the other way around, according to Skrajewski.

At that time Heinrich only had rooms planned for testing his grain and whiskey products.

Nocturnal disturbance feared

As Heinrich explained, the catering should cover an area of around 200 square meters plus a kitchen.

The production rooms should take up about 600 square meters.

In general, it became clear in the discussion among the municipal councils that they did not want a restaurant in the “An der Breiten” area, because: “It is an industrial area,” emphasized Mayor Stefan Jocher.

In addition, he and the local council fear nocturnal disturbances by evening guests.

In order to secure the existence of the local businesses, the councils insist on an urban development contract to restrict the range.

They therefore did not give their communal consent to the application for a preliminary decision.

This decision was made unanimously.

Before submitting a new plan, the urban development contract must be signed and submitted, stressed the councils.

Heinrich would have to "significantly" reduce the gastronomic part and increase the production area significantly.

Christian Heinrich wants to pursue the project

Since he did not know anything about this decision of the municipal council on Monday, Heinrich did not want to comment on it.

However, he assured him that he would basically continue to pursue his project.
