Many people get tested for the corona virus.

Volunteers are helping in Wolfratshausen: the initiative has already taken 1000 tests so far.

Wolfratshausen - "I would never have thought that we would get that far": Ines Lobenstein stands in the Corona rapid test station in the rooms at Schwankl-Eck, the cotton swab for sampling in her hand.

Johann Probst from Geretsried sits in front of her - he is the 1000th citizen who has a smear taken in the facility.

I think we owe it to help here "

Ines Lobenstein

Shortly before Christmas, Ines Lobenstein, the ENT doctor Dr.

Jens Klein, volunteer of the Isar-Loisach Cultural Association (KIL), the German Lifesaving Society (DLRG) and the team led by Dr.

Christian Hintermann launched the rapid test station (we reported).

The aim was to support people who want to visit a relative in a nursing home and have to present a negative corona test.

A POC antigen rapid test must not be older than 48 hours, a PCR laboratory test must not exceed the three-day limit.

And both cost money.

"Only: How should older people in particular, who hardly have a pension and are not mobile, manage that?" Lobenstein describes the motivation for setting up the station.

As a Caritas employee, she knows what she is talking about.

She is familiar with people's worries.

"I think we owe it to help here."

Johann Probst belongs to the group of those who have relatives in a home.

For the tenth time, the 71-year-old is being tested by Ines Lobenstein and her team this Monday.

So stick first into the nose, then into the buffer solution, which is then trickled onto the test cassette.

Then it's time to wait.

One line: negative.

Two lines: positive.

Johann Probst looks out the window.

“There, I used to live in Johannisgasse,” he says during the quarter of an hour until the result is available.

“Of course I'm delighted that I'm the 1000th,” he says.

"You can see how necessary this facility is."

A quick test is necessary before visiting an old people's home - the residents suffer from social isolation

Regina Hirschberger, who is also waiting for her result, can only confirm that.

She has now passed the 29th test to be allowed to enter a senior citizen pen.

Her father is housed in the Caritas nursing home St. Hedwig in Geretsried.

“It was still possible with the first lockdown, which he put away quite well,” she reports.

"But now you just notice how much he suffers from the separation and social isolation." It is all the more important to keep in contact as well and as often as possible.

At this moment Ines Lobenstein approaches the two test subjects, the decision in hand.

“Everything is okay.” Both quick tests are negative.

The employees were able to experience that this is not always the case on Christmas Eve.

"We had three tested positive."

The test station would like to expand its offer.

Around 30 citizens use the rapid test station every day it is open.

As soon as the financing has been clarified, Ines Lobenstein would like to expand the offer.

"We are in the process of bringing a pharmacy and another doctor on board," she reports on site, "then we can be there for our customers every day."

Ines Lobenstein volunteered at the beginning of the pandemic to help people in the Corona crisis.
