US President Joe Biden has sent his two dogs from the White House to the family home in Delaware after Major was involved in a "bite incident" with one of the White House security guards.
Major, a three-year-old German shepherd, was adopted by Biden and his wife Jill in November 2018 from an animal shelter.
According to CNN, which quoted two unnamed sources, he acted aggressively when he jumped, barked and attacked security personnel and staff at the White House.
According to the report, it is not clear if the same person who was involved in the bite incident was injured, but she was considered serious enough to bring Major and 13-year-old Champ back to the Biden family home in Wilmington last week.
Major is the first adopted dog to move into the White House, following Biden's entry in January.
In the previous four years, under President Donald Trump, the presidential residence has not hosted any animals because of it.
It is unclear when, and if at all, Biden will return the two dogs.
Last month the first lady said she was investing efforts in absorbing the dogs at their new home in Washington.
