According to Xiang Rong, the commander of the second group of the Narcotics Investigation Division of the Hong Kong Customs Drug Investigation Bureau, on the 18th of last month, the customs inspected a batch of sea cargo from Cambodia based on risk assessment and intelligence analysis. The charge for this batch of cargo was a company established at the end of last year. , The goods are reported as 51 baby car seats.

On that day, customs officers inspected the goods at a demolition yard in Yuen Long. After X-ray inspection, they found suspicious objects on the bottom of the seats. When opened for detailed inspection, 51.5 kg of suspected methamphetamine was found on the bottom of 31 seats.

The drug cartel keeps shifting the storage site Haitai to follow and pull people for a long time

The customs immediately launched a 17-day surveillance and delivery operation. It was discovered that the drug cartel first used nine rental trucks to transport cargo from a container yard in Yuen Long to Tsuen Wan, and then used a truck to transport the cargo to an open-air parking lot in Ma Liushui.

After being placed for about 24 hours, the drug cartel divided the consignment into three parts, and then three trucks transported the goods to relatively secluded locations or industrial buildings in Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan and San Tin. After the period, the goods were transported by three rental trucks. Destined for a 24-hour self-service container yard in Tsing Yi, 3 batches of goods are stored in 3 containers separately.

After being placed for about 2 weeks, until last Sunday (March 7) a 22-year-old non-Asian man went to the container yard involved and transported about 23 kilograms of methamphetamine in one of the containers to an industrial unit in Kwun Tong.

Customs officers immediately stepped forward and arrested the 22-year-old man.

At the same time, customs officers went to the private residential unit of the head of the receiving company in Chai Wan and arrested a 33-year-old local man.

In the case, the customs officers discovered that the drug cartel was familiar with the logistics industry in Hong Kong and continuously sent cargo to different container yards. It was the first time that the customs found that someone used a 24-hour self-service container yard as a transfer station, which increased the difficulty of customs investigation.
