80% of the 253,000 firefighters in France are volunteers, many of whom work during the week and are therefore more available to help out on weekends.
Faced with the increase in the number of Covid cases, driven by more contagious variants, the government has called for accelerating vaccination, for the moment reserved in particular for nursing homes, over 75 years, over 50 years old. fragile and health professionals.
But supply is struggling to catch up with demand: according to the Directorate General of Health, 4.4% of adults in France have received a first injection, or 3.16 million people.
