The head of the Lattakia branch of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Salah al-Din Yunis, died today at the age of 66, due to a heart attack.
The deceased was born in Lattakia in 1955, and holds a BA in Literature, Department of Arabic Language in 1978, and two diplomas in educational qualification and postgraduate studies from the Faculty of Education at the University of Damascus, and two master's and doctoral degrees from the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The late worked as a lecturer at the universities of Damascus and Tishreen and a number of universities in several Arab countries.
The late member of the Arab Writers Union and the head of its branch in Latakia since 2018, and he was a member of both the Egyptian Association for Comparative Literature, the House of Russian Writers, and the advisory body for the Lattakia Culture Directorate.
The late has many books, including “Paradox and Approach in Criticism,” “Variables in Literature and Criticism,” “Prose, Not Poetry, from the Authority of Heritage to Dreams of the Age,” “The Duality of Values and Arguments in Arabic Poetry”, “The Intellectual and Literary Dialectic” and “Arabia and the Era of Knowledge.” "Poets between individuality and belonging" and "conceptual spectrums and cultural intertwining between the center and the periphery."
The late participated in many international conferences on the Arab language and culture in Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, the Emirates, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran and Iraq.
