The incident of falling tortoise and wounding occurred in Hing Fuk House, Kwai Hing Estate, Kwai Chung. The incident occurred at 7:22 pm today (9th). A tortoise fell on a high-level unit of Hing Fuk House. At the right time, an old man walked outside the building and was hit on the head by the tortoise. Causes redness and swelling.
The old man called the police for help, and he was then taken by ambulance to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.
The police investigated at the scene, notified the staff of SPCA to follow up, and successfully contacted the turtle owner to assist in the investigation.
The tortoise that fell from the building vomited blood and the shell burst. After a preliminary inspection by the AIA personnel, it is believed that it has returned to the point of no avail. The tortoise's carcass was examined for further investigation.
Sources at the scene stated that the owner kept two turtles and placed them in a tortoise box on the window sill. After the two turtles were suspected of being stacked high, one of them accidentally fell from the window sill, fell straight from the canopy and bounced back to the ground. The old man was hit.
