Sirte-Sana
Today, the Libyan parliament announced the suspension of the parliament session devoted to granting confidence to the new government.
Council spokesman Abdullah Belhaq said in a statement carried by Al Wasat Gate website that the suspension of the session aims to conduct further consultations without mentioning the date of the next session’s return.
The session of the second day of the Council had resumed earlier in the city of Sirte to discuss granting confidence to the "national unity government."
In turn, the Libyan Prime Minister-designate Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba said that international foreign interference and pressure prevented the designation of the defense and foreign ministers in his government.
In a speech during the session, Dabaiba called on members of the House of Representatives to “give priority to the interest of the homeland over all private and narrow accounts and to enable the government to carry out its duties immediately and not to transfer the procedure for obtaining confidence to another stage, which may lead to obstructing the electoral process recommended by the Geneva outcomes and depriving the Libyan people. From access to real and fair elections.
Dabaiba proposed the formation of a single government with 35 members, in which in addition to his post he would occupy the position of Minister of Defense and would include two deputy ministers from eastern and western Libya.
Dabaiba was chosen during talks held by the United Nations in Geneva to head an interim government to oversee preparations for the elections scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
The Libyan House of Representatives postponed its session yesterday to today and decided to summon the person in charge of forming it, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba.
