The Criminal Security Branch in Damascus arrested eight people and thwarted the process of transferring ownership of real estate belonging to residents of the Daraya and Al-Tijara areas in Damascus, whose value is estimated at hundreds of millions of Syrian pounds.
In a statement, which Sanaa received today, the Ministry of Interior stated that based on information received by the Criminal Security Department about the presence of persons transferring ownership of real estate through forgery and impersonation of the real owners, and after investigating and gathering evidence, the Criminal Security Department arrested eight people and thwarted the completion of the transfer of ownership. Real estate belonging to citizens of Daraya and Al-Tijara areas in Damascus is valued at hundreds of millions of Syrian pounds.
The ministry stated that the arrested were using forged documents, agencies and identity cards of the owners of these properties, taking advantage of the presence of some of them outside the country, and it was found in their possession a number of agencies, documents and cards, all of which were found to be forged.
The ministry indicated that investigations are still continuing to arrest the rest of those involved in the case, so that legal measures will be taken against them, and those arrested will be presented to the competent court.
