The Alliance police union remains in "
total disagreement
" with Eric Piolle, after an exchange with the environmentalist mayor of Grenoble following remarks which had angered the police.

On February 3, Eric Piolle had estimated on the radio France Inter that it was necessary "to
fight against the impunity (of) some who, in uniform, practice police violence without being worried by their hierarchy
".
Following strong criticism from the police unions, the mayor EELV - who does not hide the thought of a candidacy for the presidential election of 2022 - had invited Alliance to come and discuss in his town hall in Grenoble.

It went overall well in view of the character,
" said Fabien Vanhemelryck, Alliance general secretary at the end of the meeting.

He was simply told that as mayor he had to support the police, and not do the opposite.
In no case should he treat them as delinquents who beat up individuals

There is no such thing as impunity within the police,

When you are elected to the Republic, you should not allow yourself to speak of the police in this way

With Alliance National Police, the dialogue is always open
", continued the trade unionist, adding however that "
either we are with the police, or we are against the police.

There was no fundamental point of disagreement
," said Maud Tavel, deputy mayor EELV in charge of Public Tranquility, who attended the interview.

," added Eric Piolle, who spoke with the unions "
on the absolute need to improve the working conditions of national police officers
" in a statement.
