Members of the annual conference of the Vocational Federation of Spinning and Weaving Workers' Trade Unions called for overcoming the difficulties and obstacles of the productive process, replacing old gints with advanced ones, and securing raw materials of cotton and seeds.

Participants in the conference, which was held this evening at the Sahara Hotel, pointed out the necessity of resolving workers' issues in spinning and weaving companies, involving them in dangerous work, converting experience contracts into annual contracts to preserve workers and amending the production incentives system.

The participants called for the rehabilitation of the jacquard looms transferred to the Five-Year Company, the development of the automated carpet factory in Sweida, and the rehabilitation of the hand-made carpet production units in Jableh, calling for the creation of a new line in the Aleppo Carpet Factory after the restoration of its infrastructure.

The Minister of Industry, Ziyad Sabbagh, explained that the cotton production decreased due to the difficult conditions in Syria and the assaults of the Turkish and American occupiers and the "Qasd militia" who prevented the delivery of the crop to the gins of the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing, pointing to the existence of a study to develop jacquard looms and the production line of the endosperm carpet factory, and the necessary funds were allocated. To change the Al-Sharq and Umayya ginologists in Aleppo, which will be put into service at the beginning of the next season.

During the response of the managers of spinning and weaving establishments to the questions of the participants, the director of the General Organization for Textile Industries, Eng. Harith Makhlouf, explained that the scarcity of cotton material is the main problem facing the establishment and that it was allocated with only 5 thousand tons of cotton, pointing to work to legalize and create production units for hand-made carpets and settle workers' affairs. With annual contracts, there are emergency solutions for Aleppo companies, and work is underway to establish an integrated industrial complex for ginning and spinning the textile.

In turn, the director of the General Company for Ginning and Marketing Cotton, Eng. Zaher Atal, explained that the decrease in the quantities received of cotton resulted from the concentration of 75 percent of the cultivated areas in the province of Hasakah and the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and Raqqa, indicating that the private sector companies for spinning were given the special document to secure their needs of the raw material through marketing it Directly from the provinces.

The conference was attended by a member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Muhammad Shaban Azouz, and the President of the General Federation of Trade Unions, Jamal al-Qadri.
