The police cracked an illegal fishing machine gambling stall in Causeway Bay.

In February this year, the police received a report from the owner of a commercial building in Causeway Bay that a 48-year-old man surnamed Li, who earlier claimed to represent a technology company, wanted to rent a commercial building in Fu Ming Street for commercial purposes.

When the owner signed a contract with the person in charge of the company and used the copy of the business registration certificate submitted by him to make a copy of the business registration certificate on the Internet, he believed that his business registration certificate number was suspicious. Someone reported the crime with forged documents.

The anti-triad group of the Wan Chai Police District took over the investigation and found that the company was actually controlled by a gang and used to rent units for illegal purposes.

After investigation and collection of evidence, the police raided the unit at about midnight today (March 9), broke into the house, and smashed a fishing gambling stall.

According to the police, a 30-year-old local man surnamed Jiang was arrested on suspicion of "operating a gambling establishment" in the unit.

The other 2 men and 3 women (2 local men, 1 mainland woman and 2 foreign women), aged between 30 and 51, were arrested on suspicion of "gambling in gambling establishments."

The six arrested men and women are also suspected of violating the Prevention and Control of Diseases (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Ordinance (Chapter 599G). The police will issue fixed penalty notices to them.

During the operation, the police seized a total of 4 shooting game consoles, a batch of game card readers and other items, and approximately HK$2,110 in cash. All arrested men and women are now being detained for investigation.

A "Disclaimer" is posted inside the venue.

According to reports, the gambling stalls involved have been operating for about three weeks. The main routes are South Asians and Southeast Asians. Among them, the two foreign women arrested this time are of Filipino and Thai nationality.

In addition, the gambling file also posted a "Disclaimer" in both Chinese and English, stating that "The company does not recommend non-playing VIPs staying at the venue for a long time. If the guest is prosecuted, in addition to the security deposit, the penalty for the restriction order The company is not responsible for HK$5,000."

According to the "Gambling Ordinance", Chapter 148 of the Laws of Hong Kong, operating a gambling establishment and gambling in a gambling establishment are both serious crimes. The former can be fined up to 5 million yuan and imprisoned for 7 years upon conviction, while the latter can be fined up to a fine upon conviction 30,000 yuan and imprisonment for 9 months.
