Beirut-Sana
Today, the Lebanese army and security forces reopened a number of roads that were closed by sit-in protesters against the deteriorating living conditions.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the army reopened traffic at the Cola roundabout in Beirut. The Abbasid Tire road was also opened, which was cut off in the morning at the Abbasiya Junction, and traffic returned to normal.
The Dora highway was opened to its eastern and western lanes, and the Jal el-Dib highway, in agreement with the protesters, to facilitate the passage of citizens, after the internal and sea roads witnessed a stifling traffic jam.
On the other hand, the Zouk Mosbeh highway opposite Saint Charbel Church remains closed for the second day on its eastern and western lanes, with cars, tires and waste bins.
The protesters continue to gather under the Khaldeh Bridge and along the Beirut Sidon highway from Khaldeh, passing through the intersections of Dohat Aramoun and Bchamoun and even Choueifat, with stones and obstacles placed.
The protesters closed the western route of Ghazir highway Jounieh with burning tires and waste bins, causing a stifling traffic jam on the highway from Tabarja towards Beirut, while the protesters cut off the Beddawi International Highway in both directions with a dirt cover and stones placed in the middle of it, which permanently impeded traffic on it from the city of Tripoli towards Minya and Akkar, or vice versa.
The Traffic Control Room reported that the roads cut within the Bekaa region are Chtaura Square, Taalabaya and Al Rafid, while in the north the Kousba roads cut the Rashedbeen and Al Nakhla Junction, the Petromin Junction, Al Baddawi Akomi, Palma, Tabbaneh, Muhammara, Al Abdeh, and Aba Bridge.
Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and to demand the fight against corruption in the country.
