The United Nations Organization announced an acceleration of the pace of vaccination against the Corona virus in the continent of Africa, with nine countries from the continent receiving shipments of anti-virus vaccines under the (Kovacs) mechanism established by the World Health Organization to make vaccines available to low-income countries.
"More doses of anti-virus vaccines supported by Kovacs have been delivered to nine African countries, namely Mozambique, Togo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Liberia, Djibouti, (Sao Tome and Principe), Uganda and Mali," Agence France-Presse quoted UN agency spokesman Stephane Dujarric as saying in a statement. Mozambique and Togo received nearly half a million doses of vaccines, while Ethiopia received about 2.2 million doses of the vaccine under the Kovacs mechanism.
Dujarric added: Malawi, Liberia, Mali and Sao Tome and Principe also received the doses of vaccines last Friday, indicating that Djibouti will start the vaccination campaign on the eleventh of this month, while the vaccination campaign will start in Uganda, which has received more than 850,000 doses of Kovacs vaccines.
