Corona crisis: Brandenburg rejects criticism due to postponed emergency braking incidence

From an incidence of 100, stricter lockdown rules should apply again: The federal and state governments have only just come to an agreement. Brandenburg deviates from this, however - and has to fend off sharp criticism.

The Brandenburg state government defends itself against sharp criticism and the accusation that it is single-handedly softening the "Corona emergency brake" agreed by the federal and state governments.

The SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach criticized on Monday evening on Twitter that the new Brandenburg Corona Ordinance stipulates that in districts and urban districts, more stringent measures are only provided if the incidence value is over 200 on at least three consecutive days.

In the ordinance - contrary to the decision of the federal and state governments - it does not explicitly state that from a value of more than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week, relaxation is automatically suspended again.

Brandenburg's government spokesman Florian Engels has now rejected the criticism.

If the nationwide value should persistently approach an incidence of 100, the state government will decide which concrete steps are to be taken after the hundred line is exceeded over three days, said Engels.

Other criteria such as the workload of the health system or the vaccination status should also be taken into account.

SPD politician Lauterbach wrote on Twitter: “That is moderately unbelievable.

Relaxation is decided, as agreed in MPK, but the emergency brake is increased from 100 to 200 (!).

Are you serious? ”Lauterbach warned that if all federal states did this, there would be a heavy third wave of pandemics and a long lockdown.

The newly elected chairman of the Left Party, Janine Wissler, called the Brandenburg regulation "quite a madness".

»That endangers the life and health of people«, said Wissler in the »early start« of RTL / ntv.

"I find the incidence of 100 pretty unsuitable as an emergency brake."
