After several months of lockdown, the shops in the Munich district have been able to reopen since Monday - thanks to an incidence value of less than 50. However, there is no big rush.

The different opening steps cause confusion for many citizens.

County

- The phone rings.

“Perfumery Howerka”, says employee Sandra Mangold.

"We are open as normal and we look forward to every customer," she explains to the caller on the other end of the line.

It is not the first phone call of this kind. Since the end of last week, citizens have been inquiring at the perfumery and other shops in the Unterschleißheimer Bezirksstrasse whether, how and when they are open again.

Corona easing: New rules are causing confusion for customers - shops remain empty

"When I saw the incidence value of 48.8 for the district on Sunday, I just thought: YES!", Says the head of the perfumery branch Martina Seidl on Monday morning shortly after the reopening.

Until the end it was not clear whether or not she would be allowed to open her shop.

If the incidence value is below 50, most shops are allowed to open in compliance with the Corona measures.

However, if the number is higher, as in Munich, only one appointment shopping offer ("Click & Meet") is possible.

This regulation unsettles many.

"Customers were already standing in front of the door looking into the store because they didn't know whether they were allowed to come in or not," says the head of the perfumery branch Martina Seidl.

"There is confusion."

"But that's not the same feeling"

Nevertheless, Seidl is happy that there is finally some life in the perfumery again - she has been looking forward to this day for a long time.

During the lockdown, Seidl offered a delivery service and "Click & Collect".

“That was well received.

We delivered the products ourselves or sent them by post, ”says the branch manager.

The bookstore “Art und Weise” across the street has also been selling books by delivery or collection in the past few weeks.

“But that's not the same feeling,” says owner Gertraud Wolejnik.

"We can now get in touch with customers again and talk about books."

Despite months of closure, however, there is no big rush.

While the owner is serving a woman at the cash register, a young man is browsing through the card stands in front of the bookstore.

Otherwise the shop is empty.

There are currently no dates.

The reopening of the shops is not only beginning with reluctance in Bezirksstrasse - there is silence even in the huge halls of the Ikea furniture store in Brunnthal.

“We didn't expect that,” says store manager Michael Vortkamp.

The specially built 500 meter long security gate in front of the entrance: unused.

The parking lot for several thousand cars: almost car-free.

A digital display at the entrance shows that 856 more people are allowed into the store.

Corona easing: Big rush in the shops is missing - "A little more life would be nice"

Only around a third of the permitted customers shop through the 18,000 square meter sales area.

“The customers but also the employees are happy that the rush is not so great,” says Vortkamp.

“A little more life would be nice.” The reason for the absence: “There is great uncertainty.

Many customers call the hotline because they don't know whether we are open or not, ”says Vortkamp.

Brigitte Felzmann has also had this experience.

“The customers are very uncertain,” says the owner of the Felzmann shoe store in Unterhaching.

“The phone has not been idle since Friday.” Felzmann therefore decided without further ado to arrange a few “click & meet” appointments for the next few days, despite normal business.

In this way, you can also plan for a short-term closure.

“Of course I wish that we can stay open.” At least today nothing stands in the way - the incidence remains below 50.
