Corona has thwarted the club Heimatgeschichte Inning.

Actually, the 15th edition of the Inninger Geschichtsblätter should have appeared this year under the title "Then and Now", instead there will now be a special issue.

The collected research by Robert Volkmann on the subject of wood is published in it.

Inning

- Volkmann is a retired teacher and has already written numerous historical articles - for the local history association, but also about Inning's neighboring towns - for example Breitbrunn.

While making wood in the forest in 2018, the topic of wood began to itch in his fingers (we reported).

For a year he researched the topic of forest management, dived into the Munich State Archives and came across interesting facts in general and stories from the region in particular that were worth telling.

He was able to determine that attitudes towards the forest and its functions have changed considerably over the past 50 years.

Since the development of issue 15 of the Inningen history sheets had now stalled due to Corona, chairwoman Jutta Göbber gratefully resorted to Volkmann's offer to publish the research he had updated through the chapter on forest conversion as a special edition.

The Schlagenhofener dealt in depth with the conversion of the forests with climate-resistant black walnut, red beech and service tree and came across stories again.

For example, that a Toerringsche service tree was auctioned for a five-figure amount and was used as furniture in the boardroom of a Munich Dax company.

The printed work is already available.

"Due to the corona, we are waiting a little longer before the situation is released," says Jutta Göbber.

She is cautiously optimistic about the presentation of the special issue for April 18th.

Volkmann's collected research is to be presented as part of a forest walk led by experts.

This corresponds to the tradition of the Inninger historical booklets, for whose publication the home history association always offered a guided tour.

Usually also an exhibition - this is now dispensed with in connection with the special issue.

Instead, “Forest and Wood - then and now” is twice as large in size.

Inninger history sheets usually appear in DIN A5, Volkmann's work is DIN A4 in size, 118 pages thick and, as usual, generously illustrated.

In addition to the preparations for the planned great historical spectacle "Imperial Dream", which is known to take place in autumn, the tireless Jutta Göbber is meanwhile still working on issue 15 of the historical issues.

“Then and now” will be a “double picture walk” through Inning, in which old views from the period between 1915 and 1970 are to be contrasted with the current situation from a perspective that is as similar as possible.

“We continue to collect pictures, documents, cards, and possibly even entire bequests.

We sift through and record them professionally.

So please do not throw anything away, but leave the materials to us at least to be scanned for the archive, ”asks the chairwoman of the association in the latest edition of the Inninger Gemeindeblatt.

Incidentally, Jutta Göbber points out that edition number 14 of the history sheets from 2019, “Wasser satt”, only exists in remnants and is available for a donation of 10 euros in the Schroeren stationery in Inning.

After the presentation in April, the special issue will also be available there - because it is larger - for a donation of 12 euros.
