This should have surprised many district administrators: They were told that the capacities in the vaccination centers should not be expanded after all, because Bavaria is relying more on family doctors in its vaccination strategy.

District Administrator Josef Niedermair takes it calmly.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - So far, the districts have been asked to expand their capacities in the vaccination centers - especially with a view to the higher delivery quantities of vaccine, which should be available from the second quarter.

In the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, everything was already prepared in order to be able to significantly increase the number of daily vaccinations against the corona virus in the centers in Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen from April.

Up to 1000 vaccinations per day would be possible

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier reacted calmly to the new instructions to shift vaccination more to the general practitioners.

“We are prepared for all eventualities.

We have prepared our vaccination centers so that we can increase up to 1000 vaccinations per day.

But it also means that we won't have any major problems if we stick to the current vaccination rate of around 600 per day. ”Fortunately, the expansion was possible without major modifications and thus at no cost.

In addition, the cooperation with the Aicher Group, which operates the two vaccination centers, works well, "even if we have to constantly react quickly to new developments," says Niedermaier.

Vaccinations for general practitioners must be unbureaucratic and possible without great effort

For the district administrator, relying primarily on family doctors when it comes to vaccination is “the only way that promises success in the long run”.

However, this is only possible “if it is unbureaucratic and effortless to prioritize according to the vaccination regulation.

So if someone wants to be vaccinated, it must be possible for everyone to do so quickly ”- especially when enough vaccine is available from April and prioritization is no longer necessary.

".

Only then, ”says Niedermaier, will we be able to master this task.
