District - This Wednesday is an important day for the continuation of the corona vaccination campaign in the Dachau district.

Today, for the first time, vaccination home visits are being carried out on bedridden people over 80 years of age.

This is possible because the vaccine from the manufacturer Astrazeneca is now also approved for people over 65 years of age.

The vaccine is characterized by the fact that it does not have to be cooled as laboriously as the vaccines made by Pfizer-Biontech and Moderna;

this makes it easier for general practitioners to inoculate it.

The Dachau District Office is relieved about this progress.

The district will in future provide 200 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine for home visits.

The goal, of course: to have priority group 1, i.e. those over 80 years of age, vaccinated as soon as possible.

According to district office spokesman Wolfgang Reichelt, a good two thirds of this group of people, around 6,000 people, have already been given at least an initial vaccination.

With the home visits, the vaccination rate in the district would be significantly increased.

The vaccinations are currently carried out by twelve general practitioners from all over the district, such as supply doctor Dr.

Christian Günzel explains.

Basically, "every practice" was offered the opportunity to join the vaccination program.

According to Günzel, the general practitioners would select the patients, educate them and vaccinate them - and, if desired, "right away with the family carers on site".

In the long term, the possibility of a vaccination home visit should not only be reserved for people over 80 years of age.

"In the course of the next few weeks we want to offer all patients in need of care a vaccination at home," promises Günzel.

A corresponding need can be registered with the general practitioner at any time.

8.3 percent of the rural population are currently vaccinated for the first time.

This puts Dachau above the Bavarian average of 6.8 percent and the national average of 6.2 percent.

Last Tuesday alone, 570 district citizens received a corona vaccination.

Do I get a vaccination appointment with my wife?

These and many other questions can be dealt with in the time window mentioned.

The Dachauer Nachrichten will also report on the questions and answers, but will not mention the names of the callers.
