As a well-established tradition in the programs of international opera houses, including the Damascus Opera to present all musical forms, four academic musicians revived an evening of chamber music that was hosted by the drama theater stage at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The evening program presented by musicians Lauren El Mussafy on the violin, Jules Shaheen on the clarinet, Nara Khanouzi on the bassoon, and Anthony Vaché Knouzi on the piano included 4 pieces by European authors from different schools, but they all belonged to pieces specially prepared for three instruments, the contents of which were inspired by emotional states.

The band, by Russian composer Mikhail Glinka, the founding father of classical music in Russia, played a pathetic trio of clarinets, bassoons and pianos that came in the form of sonata with calm tones to express the state of love, but at the same time it is considered a challenge for the players because of the high and harmonious concentration it requires among the band members.

The second piece presented by the group was by the Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, which is the trio of violin, clarinet and piano.

The German composer Karl Maria von Weber was the author of the fourth piece played by the band, although he is the most important early composer of music in the romantic school, but his works are not performed much on our theaters. This piece, which was played by the clarinet, the bassoon and the piano, had a different character from its predecessors, which was characterized by a severe mixing of instruments in an expressive state of expression. Love, fear and sadness at the same time.

And because love was the focus of all the pieces, it was evident that the band concludes with the paragraphs of its concert with it through a piece by the British composer Edward Elgar, titled A Greeting to Love, which is sweet tones of the piano and the violin overflowing with tenderness and transparency that maintains its calm emotional rhythm until the end.

It is noteworthy that chamber music is a form of classical music that includes a small group of instruments performed by a small number of musicians without a leader and thus each performer enjoys more artistic freedom, but within the framework of the written musical text, the chamber music was called salon music because it was originally written for playing in salons.
