It starts on March 15th: The Haushamer level crossing is relocated.

Here you can find all the information about the construction site for drivers and residents: closures, diversions, waiting times, etc.

  • The construction site for relocating the Hausham level crossing will start on March 15.

  • Residents and drivers have to be prepared for months of impairment.

  • All information about closures, diversions, waiting times & Co. is available here.

Hausham

- numbered chairs, two town hall employees as bouncers: the community had prepared itself for a rush.

Ultimately, only one of the 15 spectator seats in the Alpengasthof Glück Auf in Hausham was occupied.

The request from town hall chief Jens Zangenfeind (FWG) to the citizens to stay away from the local council meeting with the long-awaited information about the relocation of the level crossing due to the corona restrictions and to use the online offer had apparently been fruitful.

The local councils eagerly put questions to engineer Konrad Haindl.

Mathias Huber filmed the answers from the gallery so that citizens can later view them on the municipality's website.

We have summarized the most important points here.

One cycle takes 90 to 120 seconds, depending on the traffic-dependent, intelligent traffic light program.

After two minutes at the latest, each lane has one green.

When the barrier is closed, there is another four minutes on top.

So every driver should be able to cross the tracks in a maximum of six minutes.

With one restriction, as Haindl explained: If a traffic jam forms on Schlierseer Straße in the south direction, it may take two rounds of traffic lights to completely clear the lane.

Because of the single lane, the traffic lights also have to run at night.

"Otherwise there will be chaos."

With two lanes, the level crossing would have to be 20 meters wide.

Accordingly, the traffic lights would have to be placed at a greater distance.

The result: longer routes and longer turnaround and waiting times.

You will have your own two-meter-wide level crossing secured with barriers and traffic lights.

The streets should be kept free by the new sidewalks and cycle paths in favor of the flow of traffic for cyclists.

Probably at the end of July.

In construction phases 5 and 6 (November 2021), however, the old system is celebrating a comeback as a diversion route.

According to Haindl, security is carried out here by human guards - with the same long waiting times as currently.

Nothing at all.

The municipality only has to contribute 238,000 euros to the costs of the new footpath and bike path.

The rest of the 5.66 million euros will be shared by the State Building Authority, DB Netz AG and the Free State.

The bypasses take place alternately via Industriestraße or Schlierseer Straße, depending on the construction phase.

"We try to keep the disabilities as low as possible," promised Haindl.

Rescue service and fire brigade would be included in the planning.

The Naturfreundestraße is always open, even if it only has a single-lane access for a short time.

During the two-week full closure for the final asphalting of Schlierseer Straße Süd in the summer of 2022, the supraregional traffic will be largely diverted via the Leitzach valley.

The railway line always remains passable.

The exception is a two-week closure in June when the railway lets the tracks gravel again.

Hausham level crossing: an engineer explains why one lane is better than two

During these phases (the first lasts from mid-May to mid-July), the municipal councils also demanded a signposted diversion via the Leitzach valley.

"Otherwise it will be brutal chaos," warned Ria Röpfl (FWG).

Haindl promised to negotiate with the road construction authority.

But he couldn't promise anything.

Zangenfeind assured that one should at least make a recommendation to the motorists.

"In an emergency, we will put up the signs ourselves."

As often and intensively as possible, the mayor made it clear.

The residents are allowed to attend the regular site meetings and have a direct line to the site manager.

For example, to find out how to access your property.

Zangenfeind promised: "Every question will be answered quickly and competently." This is a matter of course in such a massive construction project that everyone will need good nerves and a lot of patience.
