The European border carbon tax project fueled the discussion between Bruno Le Maire and John Kerry, President Biden's special envoy for the climate, who was in Paris on Wednesday.
After a working lunch with the French Minister of Finance, he was to meet with President Macron on climate issues.

In the concrete decisions, Paris and Washington agreed to set up a working group on the carbon tax at the borders - this will be one of the priorities of the French presidency of the EU in 2022 - and another on green finance and taxonomy.
The aim is to define common rules on what a green project is and to increase funding flows.
At a joint press conference, John Kerry and Bruno Le Maire affirmed their willingness to cooperate to promote green growth and the need to act now in the face of the emergency.
