Those who do not have their own garden can simply rent a bed - also in Hallbergmoos: Julia Vogt-Selmayr from Schlossgut Erching offers a "temporary garden".

Hallbergmoos - “The idea is to rent a piece of field for the period from May to November to people who would like to have their own vegetable garden,” explains the farmer, explaining the model of the rental bed.

A parcel is 40 square meters and costs 120 euros a year.

Everyone - depending on the size of the family or leisure time - can rent one or more parcels.

The field that Vogt-Selmayr makes available for this is located at the S-Bahn station in Hallbergmoos on the north side next to the animal cemetery, so it is easy to reach.

The farmer is already preparing the individual plots so that you can start gardening right away.

Parts of the plots are planted and sown in advance: potatoes, yellow beets, beets, spinach, radishes, cabbage, zucchini, pumpkin and salads, for example.

Each parcel will also have space that can be planted according to your own taste.

After the gardening season in November, when the last vegetables have been harvested, Selmayr and her employees work the field again so that no heavy work is required.

Fertilizers or pesticides have not been used in the past five years

In the past few years the field was set aside, in other words not cultivated.

“So no fertilizers or pesticides have been used on the area in the last five years.

Grass was grown last summer so that the plants that had spread over the past five years could be suppressed, ”explains Selmayr.

Now the field is plowed over the winter and worked in the spring so that it can be grown as a garden.

Julia Vogt-Selmayr provides all the equipment for cultivating the gardens - in a wagon on the edge of the field.

Also water and watering cans.

"We will build a fence around the entire garden so that uninvited four-legged and two-legged guests stay away," explains Selmayr.

For 30 years she has been cultivating the agricultural land of Schlossgut Erching, which has been family-owned for over 120 years and is a model business.

"We will also create a flower strip so that the insects can find a set table and you can also take a bouquet of flowers home with you."

The expert knows that for 40 square meters of garden you need around two to four hours a week for maintenance.

“The harvest provides one or two people with regional, self-tended vegetables.” The service also includes tips for hobby gardeners: “We will set up a WhatsApp chat in which questions about cultivation and care will be answered so that ours Renters can quickly become gardening professionals.

In addition, if desired, we will be in the field at certain times to discuss problems. "
