Plugging holes with savings

Aschheim - The pandemic has also cut trade tax income in Aschheim.

Thanks to the reserves, the municipality can balance its budget deficit.

In the past few years it has been a good tradition in Aschheim that a supplementary budget in the autumn saw an increase in tax revenue and this was added to the reserves.

These savings for bad times are now needed in the 2021 budget, in which a deficit of around 6.8 million euros has to be compensated.

The figures cover 500 pages

The Aschheim municipal council, in which the groups rarely agree, passed the budget unanimously.

"We should go back to the way of a supplementary budget," said Mayor Thomas Glashauser (CSU) at the adoption of the 500-page set of figures.

Especially in the pandemic, since many questions about the future are open, conservative approaches were deliberately chosen.

Glashauser spoke of "a sensible budget" and emphasized that you can keep the voluntary benefits: "When I look at many other municipalities, we complain at a high level."

CSU parliamentary group spokesman Rolf Dettweiler added that despite the pandemic and the Wirecard scandal, you can get through the year financially without major turbulence.

Praise for the new approach to budget consultations

Treasurer Marko Zschoch received praise from all sides for the unanimous resolution for the new approach to the preparation of the budget.

In a first meeting of the finance committee, the political representatives were involved in the preparation of the first draft, in order to have the preliminary draft on the table in the second round.

This new approach was well received by the local council.

With the budget decided, it is now important for the Aschheim City Council to use finances sparingly.

The reserves fell last year from 19.3 to 15.2 million euros.

With the withdrawal of another 6.8 million euros, the reserves decrease to 8.4 million euros.
