Occupied Jerusalem - SANA
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and to provide international protection for the archaeological and religious sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement carried by Wafa news agency, the Foreign Ministry condemned the occupation’s seizure of hundreds of Palestinian archaeological sites in the occupied West Bank, especially in occupied Jerusalem, with the aim of Judaizing them, changing their identity and implementing settlement annexation plans.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the silence of the international community and its contentment with some expressions of concern without translating these positions into practical measures would encourage the occupation to continue its theft of the Palestinian land and its archaeological sites and give it the necessary cover to escalate its crimes and implement its expansionist colonial plans.
The Foreign Ministry called on the international community and the specialized international organizations, led by UNESCO, to shoulder their responsibilities, protect the Palestinian archaeological sites, and hold the occupation accountable for its crimes against the Palestinians.
