The Syrian Book Month exhibition returns to the fore again from the Faculty of Arts

New and diverse titles and topics, mostly covering various cultural, intellectual and literary topics, in addition to children's books included in the Syrian Book Month exhibition, which was opened at the College of Arts and Humanities in Damascus today.

The exhibition, which comes back to life again after being stopped for a whole year due to the measures to address Corona, is organized by the Syrian General Book Authority to celebrate the Syrian Book Day and includes more than 950 titles that included most of the topics that students especially and readers need in general at low prices, culminating in a similar series of exhibitions in various cultural directorates in most governorates.

The Director General of the Book Authority, Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din, explained in a statement to SANA that the Commission holds the Syrian Book Month exhibition not only in the university campus, but in the various directorates of culture in the country, where the body has 30 exhibitions that include topics and titles, most of which are new in various aspects of knowledge, authored and translated within the keenness of the Ministry Culture to present its books to all people.

As for the students 'views of the titles and topics of interest to them in their academic studies, the Director of the Exhibitions Directorate at the Authority Ahlam Al-Turk indicated that there is an oral questionnaire through which students' opinions about the topics they need and the different titles they choose are taken in a way that is in their academic and cultural interest at reasonable prices, indicating that there is awareness. Great among students through their selection of political and scientific books and science fiction literature, all of which are popular with them.

Head of the Arabic Language Department at the College of Arts, Dr. Mounira Faour, mentioned that the permanent book fair held by the commission at the college exists throughout the year and is developing year after year, whether in new and different titles or topics, noting the studied choices of the Ministry of Culture and the Book Commission in titles or topics, which leads To broaden students' perceptions and readings.

Among the visitors to the exhibition, Yasmine Othman, a student in criticism and rhetoric in the Department of Arabic Literature, spoke about the importance of these exhibitions hosted by the College of Arts because they contain publications that university students need, noting the importance of the linguistic and intellectual strings issued by the Commission, which are essential for any student to study and read.

As for the student, Heba Al-Hourani, in a third year in Arabic literature, she indicated that suitable book prices for all students help them acquire the scientific, intellectual and literary books and novels they need, hoping that this exhibition will tour all colleges with their various specializations.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Qasioun University, Dr. Adnan Azouz, pointed out that this exhibition includes a new book for him entitled “The Development of the Human Language,” considering that the holding of this exhibition within the College of Arts is a great opportunity for students to get acquainted with the latest international publications and the most important books written by many researchers Syrians in various fields and their acquisition at reasonable prices.
