Diplomatic officials from Uruguay denounced that they were victims of "different situations of harassment, verbal violence and discrimination over time," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this Wednesday in a statement.
The complaints were compiled in a letter sent by the Uruguayan Association of Foreign Service Officials (Afuseu) this Monday to the Undersecretary of Foreign Relations, Carolina Ache, who delivered it to Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo on Wednesday.

“As a result of this situation, Foreign Minister Bustillo communicated this morning with the court prosecutor Jorge Díaz, the director of the National Institute for Women (InMujeres), Mónica Bottero, and with María Noel Vaeza, regional director of UN Women for the Americas and the Caribbean, in order to make the reported situation known, "the statement added.
So far the Prosecutor's Office, InMujeres and Vaeza have not publicly pronounced on the case.

The Foreign Ministry did not confirm how many officials had filed complaints.
However, the newspaper El Observador, which said it had access to Afuseu's letter and was the first to report on the claims, reported this Wednesday that there would be more than 65.
Both Afuseu and the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately answer calls or a request for more information about the case sent by CNN on Wednesday.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Bustillo and Ache, who chairs the Institution's Gender Commission, will advance in "evaluating short-term measures for the definitive eradication of this type of behavior."
It was not explained what kind of actions they will take.
