Due to the corona pandemic, many Germans are very hesitant about booking a summer vacation abroad.
The government's tourism commissioner gives hope.
The Federal Government's Tourism Commissioner, Thomas Bareiß, made a forecast a few weeks ago as to when normal travel could be possible again this year.
In his opinion, an improvement in the infection situation can be expected from the Whitsun holidays *, so that more trips could be possible from this point on.
However, the majority of Germans are currently planning to spend their holidays in Germany in 2021 - the Baltic Sea is again a popular destination.
However, only very few are currently planning a trip outside the country's borders.
Will trips abroad be possible in summer 2021 despite the corona pandemic?
But here, too, the tourism officer Bareiß is now giving hope: He expects that despite the corona pandemic,
summer holidays abroad
will be
relatively problem-free
this year
.
"I hope that most Germans will be vaccinated by summer and will also be able to travel abroad," said the CDU member of the "Bild" newspaper (Thursday).
He saw no reason why, for example, one could not travel to Mediterranean islands if the seven-day incidence value
there was below 35.
Bareiß warned against making travel unnecessarily difficult.
"We can't keep people at home permanently
."

Summer vacation in Mallorca?
Balearic Islands fall below the limit value for corona incidence
In the Spanish Balearic Islands - which also includes the
island of Mallorca, which
is
particularly valued
by Germans
- the seven-day incidence value had fallen below 50 at the beginning of the week.
This means that less than 50 new infections were reported per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.
The Spanish government has been discussing the introduction of travel corridors for some time, which should enable safe travel with the help of vaccination certificates or vaccination passports.
The Balearic Islands now want to take the first step and introduce free entry for tourists with corona vaccination from May.
Nevertheless, entry with a negative test should still be possible.

Since the middle of August
last year, a travel warning from the German Foreign Office has been in effect for Spain with the Balearic Islands.
In Germany, the seven-day value on Wednesday was just below 60.
