Munich dealers had hoped to be able to open their shops on Monday.

But the 7-day incidence is over 50. Your only option is now called “Click & Meet”.

Munich - In many counties and district towns in Bavaria there is relief among retailers.

As has been determined in the most recent resolutions * on the relaxation of the corona lockdown, shops with a 7-day incidence below 50 may again receive customers and advise them on site.

The friends in Munich were also great.

“Many have prepared everything, cleaned the windows, and decorated the shops nicely,” says Bernd Ohlmann, Managing Director of the Bavarian Trade Association.

But then the bitter setback on Sunday (March 7th).

The state capital tore the 7-day incidence limit for store openings.

Because from the incidence value of 50, the retail trade is only allowed to receive customers via “Click & Meet”.

In other words: Customers have to make an appointment in advance in the respective shop and cannot spontaneously roam and stroll through the shops.

Munich's corona incidence value over 50 - shops are only allowed to receive customers via "Click & Meet"

“This news hit like a bomb, of course,” says Ohlmann.

For Munich dealers this is “really tragic.

We see that it is well received in cities like Ingolstadt or Würzburg and that people go shopping, ”reports the managing director of the Bavarian Trade Association.

"Of course that hurts the smaller shops in a big city like Munich extremely."

Shops in Munich are not allowed to open - Corona message "hit like a bomb"

Peter Büscher, for example, is also affected by this.

He is the owner of the specialty shop “Suitcase and Leather Goods Büscher” in Munich's Augustenstrasse.

The uncertainty is currently the main problem.

“You don't know how things will go on.

We would need a certain continuity in order to be able to assess it a little better, ”he says on request.

Nevertheless, he is happy to be able to offer at least “Click & Meet”.

“I already had a sale and three repairs today.

I already have an appointment for tomorrow. ”Of course, this cannot be compared with normal business like before Corona.

But Büscher also says: “You can't earn less than nothing.

It is also better than Click & Collect.

Because I have a very advice-intensive range. "

Business owners happy about the "Click and Meet" option - better than "Click and Collect" for many shops

Ernst Läuger (President of the Bavarian Trade Association) is the owner of Marstaller Lederwaren with three branches in Munich and one in Nuremberg.

Both cities have too high an incidence to be allowed to open regularly.

So far, he has been offering “Click and Meet” for four hours four days a week.

“You first have to see whether that will be well received.

There are also high personnel costs involved, ”explains the business owner.

He is curious how the first week with the new concept will start.

On the first day it reached almost seven percent of the regular daily customer frequency.

“In terms of sales, of course, that's not even a drop in the ocean.

But this gives us the opportunity to stay in direct contact with our customers.

It's about showing presence now, ”says Läuger.

With "Click and Collect" he made the experience that "it was well received the first week and then gradually flattened out again." In general, however, he is of the opinion that the concept for owner-managed shops in "a big city like Munich" will hardly help financially.

Bernd Ohlmann (Bavarian Trade Association): "It currently depends on every single euro"

Bernd Ohlmann thinks that it depends very much on the store and the range of products whether “Click & Meet” can be promising or not.

But he also knows: “At the moment, for most of them, every single euro in sales matters.

Everything is better than nothing. ”The textile dealers who were barely able to sell their winter goods were particularly hard hit.

To his knowledge, smaller shops in the city center are also struggling immensely at the moment.
