A 26-year-old man from the Mainland who came to Hong Kong to work in the insurance industry for five years organized a group of criminal syndicate members on WeChat and committed a joint crime because of his greedy "quick money".

The man bought some handbags with other people's credit card information in a brand-name online store, and after picking up the goods at the physical store, he immediately sent the goods back to the mainland, and then he would receive a payment.

It is understood that the arrested person went to Gucci's store in Yuanfang Shopping Mall to pick up the goods on the same day, was arrested by police officers in ambush, and recovered a batch of 1 million yuan worth of stolen goods from his apartment.

The store bought 3 handbags with a total value of 50,000 yuan and will pick them up at the famous-brand physical store in Yuanfang Shopping Mall in the afternoon of the same day.

When the suspect went to the store to pick up the goods that afternoon, he was arrested by police officers in ambush and returned to his apartment for investigation.

In the suspect’s apartment, the police found a batch of brand-name products suspected of pirating other people's credit card information, including 11 Cartier watches, 7 LVs, Gucci handbags and a batch of accessories, with a market value of about 1 million yuan.

During the investigation of the case, it is not ruled out that more people will be arrested.

The arrested person is a 26-year-old Chinese man who came to Hong Kong on a work visa five years ago and reported that he was engaged in insurance sales.

After investigation, it was found that the arrested person met the members of the criminal group through WeChat three months ago and was invited to commit a joint crime.

In this case, the arrested person must take the initiative to go to a brand-name store to check the online payment barcode of the product with the staff, and send it to other members to steal credit card information and make the payment. Then the arrested person must go to the physical store to pick up the goods, Express delivery to the designated address in the Mainland.

Inspector Yun Tianxing reminded that citizens should check credit card bills regularly. If suspicious transactions are found, they should report them immediately. They should also carefully protect their personal information, including credit card information, and avoid credit card information when shopping online or receiving emails.

In addition, if someone sells second-hand brand-name products online, the public must be vigilant, such as asking the seller to provide relevant receipts and supporting documents to verify the source of the goods.

According to Hong Kong law, "acquiring property by deception" is a serious crime. Anyone who participates in or helps a criminal group commits a crime can be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years once convicted.
