This morning, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received a copy of the credentials of Ambassador Sebastian Zavala, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to the Syrian Arab Republic.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Miqdad welcomed Ambassador Zavala, wishing him success in performing his duties and strengthening relations between the two friendly countries, stressing the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in all its departments and divisions to provide the necessary facilities and support that he needs in communicating with all the Syrian national authorities, as well as in exchanging views and ideas that will contribute to developing relations. Between Syria and Argentina.

Minister Al-Miqdad also affirmed that Syria stands in principle with Argentina on the issue related to the Argentine Malvinas Islands, which is under the British occupation, and Syria's deep appreciation for Argentina's supportive stances regarding the war on terrorism, noting the existing social ties between the two friendly peoples, stressing the need to build on them, strengthen them and invest them to strengthen relations in all fields. Especially political, economic and cultural in light of the suffering caused by the coercive unilateral economic measures imposed on the Syrian people by the United States of America and its Western tools.

In turn, Ambassador Zavala expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the welcome and cooperation he received from the Syrian government as well as the Syrian people during the few days that have passed since his arrival in Damascus, stressing his readiness to advance bilateral relations between Syria and Argentina and to strengthen the social, cultural and economic ties that the two friendly peoples are closely related to. Which serves the development of relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Zavala expressed Argentina's high appreciation for Syria's supportive stances regarding Britain's continued occupation of the Argentine Malvinas Islands, stressing that his country stands by Syria in the face of the terrorist war it is facing and the illegal economic measures imposed on it outside the framework of international legitimacy institutions.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Sousan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sami Salama, Director of the Protocol Department, Abeer Al-Jarf, Director of America's Department, Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Special Office Department, Bashar Akbik from America's Department, and Yazan Al-Hakim from the Minister's Office, as well as Deputy Head of the Argentine Mission in Damascus.
