Geneva - Sana

Ambassador Hussam al-Din Aalla, the permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations office and other international organizations in Geneva, affirmed that Syria has faced during the past years an organized campaign of terror targeting it and threatening the integrity and integrity of its territories and faced an economic blockade affecting the basic sectors and an occupation that plundered its natural resources, stressing the need to lift the coercive measures imposed on the people. Syrian that violate human rights and obstruct the work of international humanitarian organizations.

Ambassador Alla said during an intervention in the so-called (Interactive Dialogue with the Investigation Committee on Syria) within the agenda of the 46th session of the Human Rights Council, that over the past ten years, this council met with reports full of accusations and delusions about the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic presented by the International Commission of Inquiry. In implementation of non-consensual decisions imposed on the Council by a group of countries, through which the mandate reference and the path of conclusions are determined in order to entrench a negative stereotype against the Syrian government.

Ambassador Alla explained that this committee and its reports failed to produce any credible results because it failed to address the challenges facing Syria and the real causes of the suffering of the Syrian people.

Ambassador Aalla said that during the past years, Syria has faced an organized terrorist campaign targeting it and threatening the integrity and integrity of its territories, terrorism sponsored, used and misled by regional and international parties, and it has faced an economic blockade that affects the basic sectors and deepens the economic hardships exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, an occupation that plundered its natural resources and media and political misleading within organizations. International law to falsify the facts and provide excuses for those countries to carry out aggression against Syria.

Ambassador Aalla pointed out that during these years the Syrian government has exercised its duty to protect its citizens from the crimes of terrorist groups and in the face of the American, Turkish and Israeli occupation, whose practices that the reports of this committee deliberately ignore constitute a threat to the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian state and a source of continuous human suffering for its people.

Ala said: In the northeastern regions of Syria, the American occupation and the militia it supports continue to steal oil and wheat and smuggle them abroad through illegal corridors, and the separatist militia perpetrates systematic violations of human rights and suppresses protesters demanding the return of state institutions and obstructs the work of humanitarian organizations.

Ala added that the US occupation continues to prevent the dismantling of the Rukban camp and the evacuation of civilians from it, after it turned the area into a headquarters for terrorist training and a launching pad for attacks targeting infrastructure, humanitarian aid convoys and residential communities.

Ambassador Aalla emphasized that Western countries that have overlooked the travel of their citizens involved in terrorism to Syria are evading their return and their families from Al-Hol camp, and said: We warn against invoking the humanitarian aspects of this issue to violate the Syrian sovereignty or attempt to impose any legitimacy on the separatist militia.

He continued, the terrorist organization (Jabhat al-Nusra) in Idlib continues to violate grave human rights under the protection of the Turkish regime that guarantees the terrorist groups and continues to use civilians as human shields as it prevents people from going to the humanitarian corridor opened by the Syrian government and prevents students from taking exams in state centers. Parallelism, the Turkish regime continues to use terrorist and mercenary groups in the service of its interventionist plan and its regional ambitions, and is implementing a systematic Turkification campaign in northern Syria, pointing out that the terrorist groups operating under the supervision of the Turkish occupation army commit serious human rights violations and crimes that the occupying Turkish forces bear responsibility for.

Ambassador Ala stressed that after the restoration of security and stability in most of the Syrian regions, the reconstruction and rehabilitation of those areas and the return of the displaced inside and outside Syria have become a national priority, pointing out that the refugee conference held in Damascus at the end of last year came as part of the efforts to create the appropriate ground for their return, but the efforts of the Syrian government It is faced with positions that advance political agendas over humanitarian considerations, in light of the insistence on imposing unilateral coercive and political conditional measures that impede development and relief cooperation with the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies.

Ambassador Ala added that the American and European statements confirm that the aim of unilateral coercive measures is to starve the Syrian people and punish them for their political choices, and the demand to lift the coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people that violate human rights and impede the work of international humanitarian organizations with the support of the Special Rapporteur on unilateral coercive measures. These calls do not find their way into the committee's reports or to the listening of the countries that have turned the decisions and mechanisms of this council into tools to serve their political agendas.

Alla concluded by saying that the Syrian government denies the accusations contained in the Commission’s briefings and reports that confirm its subjective approach to the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic and its role in providing the ground for passing controversial decisions and promoting accusations drawn from non-neutral sources and intelligence agencies that have spent millions of dollars on propaganda against Syria It has not recognized this politicized mandate since its inception by controversial decisions and without consulting the concerned state, and urges the Council not to renew it.
