The new crown pneumonia epidemic has been repeated, and the diploma exam that will start in April has attracted much attention.

It is known that the Education Bureau will meet with the principal of the secondary school this Friday (12th), and may discuss the emergency plan for the HKDSE assessment.

Some principals estimate that the Education Bureau may consult the academic community on issues such as compulsory quarantine, testing, and changes to the examination room arrangements.

The HKEAA stated that it is working with the Centre for Health Protection to further understand the Diploma Examination control issues and formulate contingency arrangements. Updates will be announced as soon as possible.

In addition, the situation of cross-border students returning to Hong Kong to take the exam or applying for the exam without using a Hong Kong ID card is also affected by the epidemic. According to data from the HKEAA, there are about 228 candidates applying for the HKDSE without a Hong Kong ID card. The number of survivors should be slightly lower than last year by 20%.

Fang Yiliang, chairman of the North District Middle School Principals Association, believes that there will be an "Easy Return to Hong Kong" program this year, and most candidates choose to arrange their own return to Hong Kong.

He revealed that the North District Middle School Principal Association is collecting information about cross-boundary students from the school and will decide whether to assist them in returning to Hong Kong this month.

This year's DSE was affected by the epidemic, and the test opening date was postponed to late April.

The Appraisal Bureau also stated that it has reminded candidates through various channels such as the Candidate Handbook to ensure that they can fulfill legal requirements, including applicable visas, residence conditions and quarantine requirements, before the test.
