Föst, building and housing policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group, encouraged the local association in this stance.
Föst emphasized that he did not want to banish lease as such completely.
“But as the sole pillar of land policy, it is hostile to development.” The “simple answer” - in other words: the ban on the sale of communal land - could not be the solution to a complex issue.
Building land policy must be multi-layered.

"But basically to say that we no longer make the land available to you as your property does not exactly encourage trust." The majority of people dreamed of their own land.

A “generalization” like the stipulation on long leases does not lead to any constructive results in their eyes.

Föst brought various instruments up for discussion: First and foremost, the creation of living space.
“That way you can get the rental prices under control.” In addition, the municipality must make full use of the available options: through potential development and building land designations, municipal housing, cooperative models and the possibility of adding to existing buildings.
The Viennese model could provide orientation: one should not, however, narrow one's view to the fact that the Austrian capital is building many apartments for the broad mass of the population itself.
“Whatever Vienna is doing: You are designating building land, two new city districts have been built in the past 30 years.
And the city is selling the land at a discount, including to private investors.
If you orient yourself towards Vienna, then please look at the entire concept. "
With concept award against speculators
According to Föst, a municipality has options against any speculators who drive up prices.
"The concept award is a very strong instrument." That means: It is not the highest bidder who gets the land, but the one with the best concept. "
Irena Hirschmann complained that “nothing new” had been developed in Eching for decades.
“Most recently in the mid-1970s with Schachterlhausen, south and east of Kreisstraße and on Lohweg.
