Israel has carried out a series of attacks on Iranian ships carrying oil and weapons to Syria, the Wall Street Journal reported today (Thursday), quoting officials in the US administration.

According to the report, during 2019 alone, at least 19 attacks were carried out on Iranian ships, some from oil tankers and others cargo ships, which made their way from Iran to Syrian ports, government officials told the newspaper.

According to the report, the Iranians reported some of the attacks and even announced that they suspected that these were Israeli actions.

It was also reported that naval mines and other means of sabotage were firmly used.

Earlier in the day, social media surfers reported damage to an Iranian container ship in the Mediterranean, a claim that has been ignored in Iran's institutionalized media. On social media in Iran, they were quick to accuse Israel of attacking Iranian transport in the Mediterranean.
